In addition, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.

Domestic pepper prices increased due to a sharp decline in supply from harvest and import, while export demand from businesses remained very large.
Pepper harvest in key regions across the country ended in May. Farmers’ inventories are now almost depleted, as most of them sold out early. Only a few households are still holding on to pepper, making domestic supply scarce.
While supplies are limited, export companies need to collect pepper to ensure delivery as per international commitments. The pressure on progress has caused businesses to compete in purchasing, causing domestic pepper prices to continuously increase.
Data from VPSA shows that pepper imports have fluctuated greatly. If at the beginning of the year, Vietnam imported 3,000 to 4,000 tons per month from Brazil, now it is only about 1,000 tons. The reason is that the low price advantage of Brazilian pepper is no longer obvious when adding transportation costs and trade risks.
The US and Europe have a large demand for pepper imports, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to sell at high prices. Thanks to that, domestic goods are still consumed well despite strong market fluctuations.
In the context of reduced imports, businesses are returning to the domestic market, purchasing directly from farmers and agents. VPSA forecasts that the price increase will continue in the short term, until supply and demand reach a more balanced state.
