Sentenced to 35 years in prison for "Disturbing public order" and "Intentionally causing injury"
A group of 10 people (aged 14-21) carried weapons and chased and slashed a young man, seriously injuring him in March 2025. According to the Trial Council, the defendants committed the crimes of "Disturbing public order" and "Intentionally causing injury".
On September 9, 2025, the Court of Region 1, Nghe An province (No. 72, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, Thanh Vinh ward) tried the case of "Disturbing public order" and "Intentional injury"caused by 10 subjects residing in Nghi Loc district (old), Quy Hop district (old) and Vinh city (old).
The 10 defendants include: Vuong Bao Nhat (born 2008); Ho Quoc Duong (born 2005); Vo Manh Hung (born 2007); Lai Hoang Gia Long (born 2008), all residing in Nghi Loc district (old); Bui Xuan Hai (born 2008); Nguyen Ngoc Vang (born 2004); Tran Khac Khanh (born 2008); Hoang Duc Trung (born 2008); Le Hoang Thien B. (born 2011), all residing in Vinh city (old) and Nguyen Dang Phuong (born 2006), residing in Quy Hop district (old).
According to the indictment: Due to a conflict that broke out with a group of other subjects while traveling on Nguyen Trai Street, Vinh City (old), the group of subjects searched for and brought weapons to chase the "opponent" group, resulting in a young man being seriously injured and hospitalized in critical condition. During the trip, the subjects did not wear helmets, drove at high speed, swerved, swerved, revved the engine, honked the horn and held weapons in their hands to show off, causing insecurity and disorder.
It is worth mentioning that after causing injuries, in order to avoid being caught by the law, the subjects discussed ways to escape to the southern provinces. Assessing the group's reckless behavior, disregarding the law, in particular, the subjects thought that after leaving the district police, the authorities would have difficulty handling the act of "Disturbing public order", so they became more reckless. The Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police coordinated with related units to mobilize forces to quickly and successfully arrest the group of 10 subjects mentioned above.
At the trial, the defendants confessed and expressed remorse for their illegal actions. After deliberation, the Trial Panel sentenced 10 defendants to prison terms ranging from 1 year to 7 years and 3 months for the crimes of “Disturbing public order” and “Intentionally causing injury”. The total sentence for the group of 10 subjects mentioned above is 35 years in prison.
