iPhone 17 Pro vs. iPhone 17 Pro Max: 3 Key Differences
Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, attracting significant attention from the tech world. Despite many similarities, the two versions differ distinctly in three key areas: screen, battery, and storage.
Ahead of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max launch event, rumors circulated in the tech world that Apple would continue its differentiation strategy by equipping the Pro Max version with several exclusive high-end features.

This information is further supported by looking back at previous years, when Apple favored the Pro Max with more advanced telephoto camera features compared to the regular Pro version. However, this year, Apple has decided to be fairer, with both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max sharing the same features, including an upgraded camera system, a new generation processor, and an improved ProMotion display.
Nevertheless, the differences between the two devices remain in three core areas: screen, battery, and storage capacity.
Screen size
First and foremost, the screen size is the most noticeable difference. The iPhone 17 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch screen, the largest ever on an iPhone, providing a more spacious experience for watching movies, playing games, and working.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro boasts a smaller 6.3-inch screen. This difference makes the iPhone 17 Pro a suitable choice for users who prefer a lightweight device that is easy to hold and operate with one hand, while still maintaining high-quality display.
Battery capacity
Secondly, battery capacity is another factor that creates a significant difference. Thanks to its larger internal space, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is equipped with a high-capacity battery, allowing for up to 39 hours of continuous video playback – a record in iPhone history.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro is still very impressive with 33 hours of video playback, enough to meet the needs of extended use, but it doesn't reach the same level of "durability" as the Pro Max. This is also why many users often choose the Pro Max if battery life is a priority.
Storage memory
Finally, storage is one of the most notable upgrades. For the first time, Apple has offered a maximum capacity of 2TB on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, opening up a new option for professional users who need massive storage space for shooting 4K video or installing many heavy applications.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro retains its 1TB storage limit, which is already quite high for typical needs. Of course, the 2TB Pro Max version comes with a hefty price tag of $2,000.
Overall, aside from the three differences mentioned above, both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are similar in design, performance, and camera system. Therefore, choosing which version to buy will depend on the user's priorities: the compactness and convenience of the iPhone 17 Pro, or the larger screen, longer battery life, and massive storage capacity of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
