Van An Commune Party Committee was established under Decision No. 3621-QD/TU, dated June 18, 2025 of the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee on the basis of merging the Party organization and Party members of Nam Dan Town Party Committee with Thuong Tan Loc Commune Party Committee and Xuan Hoa Commune Party Committee; The Party Committee has 74 Party Committees and affiliated Party Cells with 2,355 Party members; natural area of ​​56.37km², population 44,830 people.

Besides the opportunities and advantages, the locality also faces difficulties: Impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic; limited resources for development investment; infrastructure investment but not yet synchronized; climate change and extreme natural disasters; frequent fluctuations in the economic, financial and real estate markets... have affected the progress of implementing the goals and targets of the Party Congress Resolution.

With the motto: "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development", the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of Van An commune, term 2025 - 2030 has a particularly important meaning, entering the implementation of a 2-level local government; determined to successfully implement development goals, striving to build Van An commune to meet civilized and modern urban standards; contributing to the country entering a new era - the era of national growth.

Efforts to implement the resolution

Immediately after the Congress, the Party Executive Committees of Thuong Tan Loc and Xuan Hoa communes and Nam Dan town urgently and seriously started implementing the resolution with specific and practical actions. Leadership and direction were renewed; resolutions, directives and conclusions of higher levels were promptly concretized into specialized resolutions, programs and action plans suitable to the local situation. Thanks to that, most of the targets and plan contents were basically completed.

Effectively carry out the arrangement of administrative units; merge the communes of Thuong Tan Loc, Xuan Hoa and Nam Dan town to establish the new commune of Van An. Implement restructuring of the agricultural sector towards developing commodity agriculture, applying high technology. Develop concentrated vegetable growing areas. Form models of greenhouses and net houses for growing high-tech vegetables, tubers and fruits for outstanding economic efficiency such as the model of large-scale rice production linked with product consumption with a total area of ​​190 hectares. The model of growing straw mushrooms with high economic efficiency of 0.5 hectares, the model of growing high-tech grapes in net houses of 2.5 hectares, and growing squash of 14 hectares (Thuong Tan Loc commune). Trade and service activities have developed positively; the commodity market has become increasingly rich and diverse, meeting the consumption and production needs of the people. Commercial infrastructure has been invested and developed strongly. Financial, credit and banking services have improved. Capital mobilized from credit institutions has increased rapidly, basically meeting the people's demand for loans for production, business and labor export.

Every year, Van An welcomes about 250,000 visitors to prominent historical and cultural relics such as Phan Boi Chau National Special Relic Site, King Mai's tomb... Environmental sanitation and security at tourist attractions are focused on, creating a friendly and safe image in the hearts of tourists.

The national target program on new rural construction continues to be implemented synchronously and effectively. Focus on completing the goals and upgrading the quality of new rural criteria at all levels. By 2024, Xuan Hoa commune and Thuong Tan Loc commune will meet the advanced new rural standards, and Nam Dan town will meet the civilized urban standards. Rural infrastructure, material and spiritual life of the people will be significantly improved.

Up to now, the whole commune has 6 OCOP products meeting 3-star standards, initially affirming the brand, opening a new direction for the development of typical agricultural products associated with sustainable new rural construction.

The scale and network of schools are planned reasonably, schools are invested in construction and upgraded to basically meet standards.
