According to RIA Novosti on September 15, US President Donald Trump said that European countries' sanctions against Russia are not strict enough because they continue to buy energy resources from Moscow.

“I don’t want them buying oil, and the sanctions they’re putting on are not strong enough. I’m ready to put sanctions on them, but they’re going to have to tighten the sanctions in proportion to what I’m doing,” President Trump told reporters.

The White House chief also expressed the view that Russian leaders Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky “dislike each other” so much that they cannot “talk.” President Donald Trump admitted that, in the event of a three-way summit, which could take place “relatively soon,” he himself would have to preside over the dialogue between Putin and Zelensky.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that if Mr. Zelensky was ready to meet, let him come to Moscow. The head of the Ukrainian government rejected this proposal, contrary to the statement that he was ready for a meeting "in any format".

On September 14, President Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social that he was ready to impose severe sanctions on Moscow if all NATO countries refused to buy Russian oil. In addition, he called on the alliance to impose 50-100% tariffs on goods from China. The US President stated that this would play an important role in ending the conflict in Ukraine.
