Apple builds iPhone Fold testing line

According to Nikkei Asia, Apple has been in talks with suppliers in Taiwan about building a test line for the foldable iPhone. If the plan goes ahead, mass production would take place in India, with the goal of launching next year.

Apple expects the foldable iPhone to boost global shipments by at least 10% next year. Moving production to India is also seen as a move to reduce dependence on China amid US-China tensions that show no signs of abating.

Meta relies on Chinese suppliers for smart glasses

Despite CEO Mark Zuckerberg's increasingly tough stance toward Beijing, Meta is leaning more heavily on Chinese tech company Goertek to make its smart glasses.

Goertek is responsible for the Ray-Ban smart glasses line and the new version with integrated display screen was just introduced at the Meta Connect event.

At the same time, Goertek continues to expand its influence in the smart glasses industry by acquiring or financially cooperating with many optical component manufacturers in China and Europe. This puts Meta in a dependent position, contrary to the anti-China image that Zuckerberg often asserts.

VinFast shifts to India and Southeast Asia

After listing on Nasdaq in 2023, VinFast is trying to find a foothold outside the US market by expanding into populous countries in Asia. The Vietnamese electric car maker is present in Indonesia, the Philippines and recently started taking orders in India.

VinFast said its strategy is not only to sell electric cars, but also to develop charging station infrastructure, cooperate with partners in electric taxi services, and build a comprehensive green mobility ecosystem.

The move comes amid fierce competition with Chinese electric vehicle brands that have advanced technology and strong financial resources.

Nvidia under antitrust investigation in China

China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) said Nvidia had violated anti-monopoly laws and would conduct a further investigation. The case began in December last year, related to Nvidia's acquisition of Mellanox, a network chip maker.

Nvidia bị Trung Quốc điều tra chống độc quyền trong bối cảnh căng thẳng thương mại

Nvidia is in a difficult position, caught between the world's two largest economies. Beijing had previously raised concerns about security risks from the H20 chip line, which is intended for the Chinese market, shortly after Washington lifted a ban on the sale of this product.

Google investigation into Android ends

China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has decided to stop its anti-monopoly investigation into Google, which was launched in February this year.

Trung Quốc dừng điều tra Google

The investigation focuses on the dominance of the Android operating system and its impact on Chinese phone makers like Oppo and Xiaomi.

According to sources close to the matter, the suspension of the Google investigation is seen as a tactical adjustment. Beijing wants to focus on Nvidia to create pressure in the context of the US and China resuming trade negotiations.

This action is also seen as a positive signal sent to Washington, showing that China can be flexible in the negotiation process.

Google still has a foothold in China

Although Google's search engine and many of Alphabet's services are blocked in China, the US company still profits from Chinese businesses that want to promote themselves internationally.

Google is providing cloud services and advertising to platforms like Temu, helping them reach global consumers.
