Rich land resources, favorable climate, and a system of large and small lakes and dams create favorable conditions for the development of commodity agriculture, forestry and aquaculture. However, due to its distance from the district center and major trade routes, unsynchronized infrastructure, and difficult transportation, investment attraction is still limited, and the lives of a part of the people are still difficult. The diversity of terrain and the difference in development have created a picture that is both promising and challenging for the locality.

Going back in history, the land that is now Anh Son Dong commune has also left a deep mark in the nation's journey of building and defending the country. During the resistance war against the Ming army, the ancient land of Dai Dien, also known as Mac Dien, was Kha Luu - Bo Ai, the place that marked the glorious battles of the Lam Son insurgents on their way to besiege Nghe An citadel, after the victory of "Tra Lan bamboo split ash flying". That tradition was nurtured and preserved through village culture, crystallized in religious works such as Huu Le communal house, Tao Dien communal house, Ca temple, Hoang Ta Thon temple, Vinh Tho communal house, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang temple...

During the two long resistance wars of the nation, the land on the left bank of Lam Giang once again fostered an indomitable tradition. In April 1965, the militia and people of Tao Son commune (old) made a great achievement when they captured the pilot of an American plane, making the whole country and friends from five continents proud. Along with the tradition of fighting, this place is also a land of studiousness, diligence, and perseverance in production. From this land, many scientists, managers, military officers, and successful businessmen have grown up, contributing to the glory of their homeland.

Today, that historical-cultural tradition and studious spirit continue to become a valuable endogenous resource, adding strength to Anh Son Dong to turn challenges into opportunities, potential into reality, gradually affirming its position in the development flow of the district and the province. This land has nurtured industrious, studious people who are attached to their homeland. The riverside strip is silted with alluvium, providing good crops, while the hills are suitable for growing raw material forests, short-term industrial crops, fruit trees and raising large livestock. However, the location far from the district center and far from the growth poles of the province makes attracting investment difficult. The infrastructure system is not yet synchronized, transportation is still limited, and the lives of a part of the people are still difficult, causing the locality's progress to sometimes lag behind its potential.

In particular, in recent years, when the Covid-19 pandemic spread, along with African swine fever, floods and unusual natural disasters, people's lives became even more difficult. But in the midst of hardship, the spirit of sticking to the land and the village became even more persistent. The stories of farmers who dared to change crop structures, boldly introduced new varieties into production, or the perseverance of livestock households to overcome the epidemic to restore their herds clearly demonstrated the determination and will of the people here.

The birth of the new Anh Son Dong commune from July 1, 2025, with a larger scale, is not only a simple administrative arrangement but also an opportunity to create a combined strength. When 3 rural areas converge, when resources are concentrated and managed synchronously, a new development horizon has opened up.

The steady flow of will and solidarity

Looking back at the 2020-2025 period, we can see a picture full of colorful efforts. In difficult circumstances, the pre-merger communes have together achieved outstanding results, both affirming their determination and creating a foundation for the future.

Regarding Party building, innovations in Party cell activities, the focus on training and developing Party members, have helped to improve the fighting capacity of grassroots Party organizations. The movement to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle has been implemented in conjunction with the responsibility to set an example, making each cadre and Party member a role model spreading throughout the community. Along with that, the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" movement has been expanded, creating a close bond between the Party and the people, and the great national unity bloc is increasingly strong.

The local economy has also made significant progress. The average annual growth rate is over 8%, the average income per capita in 2025 is up to 51 million VND, showing a clear change compared to the beginning of the term. In agriculture, many ineffective land areas have been converted to grow fruit trees and industrial crops, creating higher value. Livestock and poultry herds remain stable, vaccination and disease prevention are focused, helping farmers feel secure in production. Planted forests have developed strongly, exploiting tens of thousands of tons of wood each year, both generating revenue and increasing coverage, contributing to environmental protection.

Meanwhile, small-scale industry and services have also gradually improved. Some agricultural processing and construction material production facilities have come into operation, creating jobs and increasing budget revenue, improving people's lives. Agricultural service cooperatives have been strengthened, trade, transportation, telecommunications, etc. have expanded, creating more choices for people and contributing to shifting the economic structure in a positive direction.

Culture and society also recorded many achievements. The rate of schools meeting national standards has been raised, the quality of mass and key education has changed. Primary health care meets the needs of primary health care well, the rate of people participating in health insurance is increasing. Social security work is concerned, the rate of poor households has decreased to less than 2%. Cultural, artistic and sports movements are vibrant, both preserving identity and creating an atmosphere of solidarity and cohesion in the community.

Political security, order and social safety were maintained, and the models of the entire people protecting national security were effective. The term ended with confidence strengthened, people's lives improved, creating a foundation for the new commune to enter a higher stage of development.

Breakthrough effort

After the merger, Anh Son Dong has greater responsibilities and opportunities. The 2025-2030 term is identified as a breakthrough period, with the goal of raising per capita income to over 60 million VND/year, reducing poverty sustainably, developing a diverse and comprehensive economy, while preserving the environment and strengthening national defense and security.

To do this, the commune advocates developing sustainable agriculture, applying high technology, shifting from agricultural production to agricultural economy. Key crops and livestock will be carefully selected, linked to the consumer market, processing and brand building. Fish cages on the Lam Giang River, concentrated livestock farms, and acacia forests covering the hillsides not only have economic value but also open up the prospect of a modern, environmentally friendly agriculture.

At the same time, the commune also focused on proposing that superiors pay attention to investing in infrastructure construction, considering this the "key" to expanding development space. Key projects such as Tao - Linh bridge, route 534 through the area, irrigation system, intra-field traffic... when invested synchronously will create a boost for economic development, regional connectivity, and at the same time improve people's lives.

Administrative reform and digital transformation are also consistent goals. The commune government sets people's satisfaction as a measure of efficiency, promotes digitalization of records, streamlines procedures, and builds a team of officials who dare to think, dare to do, and dare to take responsibility. In addition, cultural and social fields continue to receive attention, from improving the quality of education and health care to preserving relics and promoting traditional cultural values.

When more than 16 thousand people from three old hometowns share the same aspirations, when local and foreign resources converge, Anh Son Dong will have enough internal strength to overcome challenges, write a story of sustainable development, worthy of expectations.
