Domestic pepper prices

Pepper prices today in key growing areas remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Accordingly, the domestic pepper price level is from 147,000 VND/kg to 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, pepper price today in Dak Lak is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Gia Lai is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 147,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Lam Dong (old Dak Nong) is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is currently at 149,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai is unchanged from yesterday at 149,000 VND/kg.

In addition, today's pepper price in Dong Nai (formerly Binh Phuoc) remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 147,000 VND/kg.

Last week, pepper prices in key production localities decreased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to the previous week.

Domestic pepper prices are currently receiving support from reduced inventories and stable import demand from key markets. The global supply situation is not surplus as many countries restrict exports. In addition, Vietnamese enterprises are reducing raw pepper imports for re-export, making domestic supply more scarce.

Last week, domestic pepper prices remained basically stable, although there was a slight decrease of an average of VND1,000/kg. Data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) showed that in the first 16 days of September, pepper exports reached 10,544 tons with a value of USD69.3 million, almost equivalent to the previous month.

Although the US market still leads, it has decreased by 15.4% in volume. In contrast, imports to China and the UAE have increased sharply, by 47% and 31.6% respectively. Regarding import activities, Vietnam only imported 998 tons, worth 6.2 million USD.

Pepper price today September 22 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on September 20 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia’s Lampung black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,027 per ton. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper price decreased slightly from yesterday at $9,957 per ton.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,600/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,900/ton.

Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,600 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

In addition, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at 9,250 USD/ton.

Last week, the prices of Brazilian and Indonesian black pepper moved in opposite directions. According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper ended last week down 0.66% (equivalent to 47 USD/ton) compared to the previous week. In contrast, the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 increased 1.54% (100 USD/ton) last week.

Meanwhile, the price of ASTA black pepper from Malaysia and Vietnam remains stable.

At the same time, Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased by 0.67% (US$67/ton) compared to the previous week. Malaysian ASTA and Vietnamese white pepper prices last week remained unchanged at US$12,900/ton and US$9,250/ton, respectively.
