Faced with the complicated flood situation in the area, in order to ensure safety for the downstream area, Ban Ve Hydropower Company will discharge water from the reservoir from 8:00 a.m. on September 24, 2025 according to Operation Order No. 931/BCH of the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province, issued at 3:45 p.m. on September 23, 2025.

This is a proactive measure to lower the lake water level, creating capacity to receive large floods expected to appear from the afternoon of September 25 to the morning of September 26. According to forecasts, in the next 24 hours, the water flow into the lake may reach 250-300m³/s and may increase to 800m³/s from September 25.

In order to implement the above direction, Ban Ve Hydropower Company has issued Report No. 208/BC-TDBV on reservoir operation to reduce flooding downstream. According to the plan, the company will open the spillway starting from 8:00 a.m. on September 24, 2025. The discharge flow through the project (including discharge through the generator and spillway) ranges from 400-800m³/s.

During operation, based on flood flow to the lake and water level at Con Cuong and Cho Trang hydrological stations, the Company will adjust the appropriate operating mode, strictly complying with the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Ca River Basin and the Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir Operation Procedure.

Ban Ve Hydropower Company requests functional agencies, local authorities and people in downstream areas to raise vigilance, closely monitor information, and proactively deploy response plans to minimize damage caused by floods.
