Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Plant operates to regulate the reservoir from 24:00 on the night of September 25.
The Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province has just issued a notice on the operation and regulation of Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Reservoir, Na Ngoi Commune.
Accordingly, at the time23:00 September 25, 2025SCI Nghe An Joint Stock Company will discharge water from Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Reservoir to ensure safety of the project and downstream.
The expected discharge flow is about 30 - 60 m³/s, including through the generators, spillway gates and free spillway. The amount of water discharged may change depending on the water flow to the lake. The regulation process will be maintained until the lake water level gradually decreases to the normal water level of 630.0m.
The Provincial Civil Defense Command has requested the People's Committees of Na Ngoi, Huu Kiem, and Chieu Luu communes and related departments, branches, and sectors to urgently notify people, construction units along the river, and water transport vehicles in the downstream area to proactively deploy prevention plans, ensuring safety of life and property.
The notice was also sent to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control, military forces, police and press agencies for coordination and implementation.
The operation and regulation of the Ca Nan 1 Hydropower Reservoir is a regular activity to respond to the hydrological situation, ensuring the safety of the project and minimizing risks to the downstream area. The authorities recommend that people should be vigilant, comply with recommendations, and not operate, produce, or exploit along the river during the water discharge period to minimize possible damage.
