Due to the impact of storm No. 10, many areas in western Nghe An experienced prolonged heavy rain, causing flooding, landslides and traffic disruption.
On the morning of September 29, Ms. Lo Thi Nguyet - Chairman of Tien Phong Commune People's Committee said that due to the impact of storm No. 10, the locality had prolonged heavy rain with common rainfall from 150-200mm. The water in streams and streams rose, causing 3 spillways to be flooded, Nhan Quac bridge was flooded and trees were stuck above, currently being cleared by the authorities. Some roads and houses were deeply flooded, especially in Long Quang village where landslides occurred, threatening residential areas.
The commune authorities have urgently dispatched forces to assist people in moving their belongings and ensuring safety. Up to now, the whole commune has 3 villages: Na Sanh, Muong Hin and Na Cay completely isolated due to floods. Response and rescue work is being actively deployed to minimize damage and protect the lives and property of people in affected areas.
A similar situation occurred in the border commune of Thong Thu, where 8 villages were isolated due to rising water levels. Some important road sections such as Pu Nguon slope - Xop Chao intersection to Muong Cat, and National Highway 16 had serious landslides, obstructing traffic. Mr. Bui Van Hien - Secretary of the Party Committee of Thong Thu commune said that the local government had mobilized staff to be on duty at overflow bridges, streams, and areas at risk of flash floods. At the same time, temporary checkpoints were set up to prevent people and vehicles from passing through deeply flooded areas.
Heavy rain in Tri Le commune caused many areas to be deeply flooded and landslides, causing 3 houses to have their roofs blown off and 4 houses to be damaged by landslides. On the night of September 28 and the morning of September 29, the commune mobilized forces to evacuate 9/21 villages with 62 households and 322 people out of the danger zone.
In Quy Chau commune, the water level of Hieu river is rising rapidly, causing flooding in 8 villages along the river. Local authorities have broadcast on loudspeakers and activated community groups to update the situation and guide people to proactively take precautions. The commune has also mobilized militia, union members, youth and organizations to be ready to assist people in evacuation when necessary. Currently, Chau Tien bridge in Chau Tien commune is deeply flooded, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.
Faced with the complicated flood situation, local authorities in Western Nghe An are continuing to closely monitor weather developments and prepare response plans to ensure people's safety.
