National Highway 48 has 8 points of deep flooding and 9 points of dangerous landslides.

Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 10, numerous points along National Highway 48 experienced severe flooding and landslides, causing serious traffic congestion.

According to a report from Nghe An Bridge and Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company - the unit directly managing this road - as of 2 PM today (September 29th), the entire route has recorded 8 flooded points and 9 points of landslides, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

Flooding reached depths of 40 cm to 1.5 m, mainly located at: Km23+100 - Km23+300 (Dong Hieu commune), Km68+300 - Km69+200 and Km72+700 (Chau Binh commune), Km90+500, Km91+400, Km94+000 - Km94+100 (Quy Chau commune), along with Km99+000 - Km103+000 and Km106+000 (Chau Tien commune). Many areas were cut off, making transportation impossible.

Simultaneously, landslides occurred at nine consecutive locations, with soil and rocks covering the road surface, posing a potential traffic safety hazard. In particular, three consecutive landslides occurred in Tien Phong commune at Km116+100, Km116+300, and Km118+450. The landslide situation in Thong Thu commune was more complex, with six locations: Km138+640, Km141+520, Km142+350, Km142+530, Km142+900, and Km156+300.

Mr. Pham Hong Suu, Director of Nghe An Bridge and Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, said that immediately after the appearance of deep flooding and landslides on National Highway 48, the unit directed the management units to quickly deploy barriers, place warning signs, and assign personnel to be on duty 24/7 at dangerous locations. At the same time, they coordinated with local authorities to strictly control and prevent people and vehicles from passing through high-risk areas.

Authorities have also implemented traffic diversion and road closures in deeply flooded areas to ensure the safety of people and vehicles during the rainy season. Currently, the management unit is urgently mobilizing machinery and equipment, ready to clear soil and rocks and repair landslides as soon as weather conditions are favorable.
