According to reports, pepper prices in the domestic market this morning remained unchanged compared to yesterday, ranging from 144,000 to 146,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, and Dak Nong remained unchanged at 145,000 VND/kg. In Dak Lak, today's pepper price remained unchanged at 146,000 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, the pepper price remained unchanged at 144,000 VND/kg.

At the close of trading on October 3rd, the International Pepper Association (IPC) reported that the price of Lampung black pepper from Indonesia was quoted at $7,013 per ton, unchanged from yesterday.
In other leading producing countries, pepper prices remained generally unchanged from yesterday. Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper is currently quoted at $6,200/ton, while Malaysian Kuching black pepper is at $9,500/ton.
In Vietnam, export prices for black pepper continue to fluctuate between US$6,600 and US$6,800 per ton for the 500 g/l and 550 g/l grades.

At the same time of the survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper reached US$9,937 per ton, unchanged from the previous session.
Meanwhile, the price of Malaysian ASTA white pepper remained unchanged at US$12,500/ton. The price of Vietnamese white pepper remained around US$9,250/ton.

According to the International Pepper Organization (IPC), world pepper prices remained rather sluggish last week. No major producing country recorded significant growth. After three consecutive weeks of decline, pepper prices in India and on the international market have now stabilized, with no significant changes.
In Vietnam, the new coffee harvest is beginning, attracting significant capital shifts away from pepper. Some traders have sold off their pepper stocks to invest in coffee, adding further downward pressure on prices. Additionally, the US economy is being impacted by the government shutdown, leaving commodity markets in general, including pepper, without the impetus for growth.
In the logistics sector, sea freight costs are on the decline. Despite recent storms in Asia disrupting several shipping routes, container freight rates to Europe and the Mediterranean have fallen to their lowest levels since December 2023. This price drop is contributing to lower global freight costs.
According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC), many domestic farmers and traders are reluctant to sell at low prices, so they are still holding onto their pepper stocks. Meanwhile, the weather has also significantly impacted production. A series of tropical storms in the past month brought heavy rains to the northern and central provinces. In the Central Highlands, prolonged rain during the pepper plant's fruiting stage caused uneven flowering and led the plants to focus more on developing stems and leaves.
