Received 1.1 billion VND for selling virtual land and then... disappeared
On the afternoon of October 27, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police announced that it had just arrested and extradited Pham Van Tuc (born in 1982, residing in Hanoi) from Da Nang City to the locality.
During the investigation, it was determined that Pham Van Tuc used the identity card of Nguyen Thanh Hung (born in 1982, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to conduct civil transactions and buy and sell land in Hon Nghe commune, Kien Luong district, Kien Giang province (now Hon Nghe commune, An Giang province).
In 2023, Tuc asked to buy a plot of land in Hon Nghe commune, but the landowner did not agree to sell. After that, Tuc posted the above plot of land for sale on social networks. When contacted by Mr. D.MT (residing in Hanoi), Tuc used the name Hung to negotiate the sale transaction with Mr. T., then took Mr. T. and his wife to see the land and agreed to buy it for 1.1 billion VND. When receiving enough money from Mr. T., Tuc gave Mr. T. a Land Use Rights Certificate, with an address in Hon Nghe commune. Suspecting that the land use rights certificate Tuc gave was fake, Mr. T. went to the police station to report. Through appraisal, the land use rights certificate above was fake.
After the police agency decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an order to temporarily detain Pham Van Tuc for the crimes of "Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations"; "Using fake seals and documents"; "Fraudulent appropriation of property". Because Tuc fled the locality, on September 5, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police (now the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police) issued a special wanted notice for Tuc.
After hiding in many places, on October 25, 2025, Tuc was arrested by detectives from the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police in coordination with the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang City Police, while hiding in Duy Nghia Commune (Da Nang City).
It is known that while on the run, Tuc continued to use the name Nguyen Van Minh (born 1983, residing in Bac Giang province) to defraud and appropriate other people's property.
The An Giang Provincial Police Department requests that anyone who is a victim of Pham Van Tuc contact the Office of the An Giang Provincial Police Department (address: 507, Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Rach Gia Ward, An Giang Province) to report to serve the investigation.
