The match between SHB Da Nang and Song Lam Nghe An in round 9 of V.League 2025/26 took place at 6:00 p.m. on November 1 at Hoa Xuan Stadium and ended in a 1-1 draw, on a day when both teams created many opportunities but lacked accuracy in decisive shots.

The match between SHB Da Nang and Song Lam Nghe An is likened to “the battle of the miserable”. Both teams are at the bottom of the rankings with 6 points, and are both eager to win to improve their position as well as relieve the pressure that is weighing on the coaching staff and players.

In the current context, 3 points at Hoa Xuan not only mean points but also a "life buoy" for any team that can take advantage of the opportunity.

Going into this match, Song Lam Nghe An is going through a difficult period. The long winless streak has put pressure on coach Van Sy Son and his players. In order to find a change, the coaching staff of the Nghe An team has made notable personnel adjustments compared to the loss to Dong A Thanh Hoa in round 8.

Young center back Le Nguyen Hoang is absent due to a thigh injury, coach Van Sy Son decided to give Tran Nam Hai a chance to play alongside Justin Garcia in the center of defense. The two full backs Van Huy and Van Cuong are in charge of blocking the two wings.

Above the defense, Ba Quyen was positioned lowest in the midfield to recover the ball and support the defense. The midfield quartet including Quang Vinh, Khac Ngoc, Van Luong and Manh Quynh were assigned to control the midfield, while Olaha was the highest spearhead in the attack.

Determined not to lose to the home team, Song Lam Nghe An entered the game cautiously. Coach Van Sy Son proactively let his players play with a low formation, prioritizing solid defense and waiting for counter-attack opportunities. This approach was to limit the speed of Phi Hoang, Van Long and foreign player David Boris.

Despite playing a defensive counter-attack, it was Song Lam Nghe An who created the first chance of the match. In the 9th minute, from a quick counter-attack, Olaha passed the ball to his teammate who was running down the right wing. This player crossed for Ngo Van Luong to jump high and head the ball from about 15 meters away, but the ball missed the goal by a hair.

The away team continued to maintain a disciplined play and created many notable situations. In the 27th minute, from a precise cross from Manh Quynh on the right wing, Ngo Van Luong once again had the opportunity to open the score with a close-range header, but the ball went wide of the post. The good coordination between Olaha, Manh Quynh and Van Cuong helped SLNA continuously threaten goalkeeper Van Bieu's goal.

In the 31st minute, after a central combination, Olaha suddenly fired a tricky shot, forcing the SHB Da Nang goalkeeper to show his talent in saving the goal. In the following minutes, the away team continued to attack strongly. In the 35th minute, Khac Ngoc broke through on the right wing, passed many opposing players and then passed back to Quang Vinh. This midfielder's shot was tricky but was excellently blocked by Van Bieu.

On the home side, SHB Da Nang tried to control the ball and they also created clear opportunities at the end of the first half. Van Long escaped down the right wing, facing goalkeeper Cao Van Binh but could not finish successfully. Before the end of the first half, the Han River team once again made the SLNA goal wobble, but goalkeeper Cao Van Binh still stood firm, keeping the score 0-0 after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the tug-of-war continued. In the 50th minute, Ngo Van Luong escaped down the right wing and quickly shot but the ball went over the bar. In the 59th minute, SHB Da Nang had the best chance of the match since the beginning of the match when Phi Hoang crossed the ball to David Boris in the penalty area, but the foreign player's shot went just wide of the post.

In the 70th minute, Song Lam Nghe An responded with a beautiful combination. Khac Ngoc passed the ball delicately to Ngo Van Luong to finish in the penalty area, but the ball hit the home defender's foot and went out of bounds.

The visitors' attacking efforts were finally rewarded. In the 81st minute, from a move up the left wing, a teammate crossed the ball accurately for Justin Garcia to jump high and head the ball dangerously, defeating goalkeeper Van Bieu, opening the score 1-0 for Song Lam Nghe An.

However, the away team's joy did not last long. In the last minute of extra time, SLNA's defense made a mistake in marking, allowing center back Kim Dong-su to comfortably head the ball close to the goal, equalizing 1-1 for SHB Da Nang.

The match ended in regret for both teams. Song Lam Nghe An was very close to their second win of the season, but dropped 3 points in the last minute. With this draw, both SLNA and SHB Da Nang have 7 points after 9 rounds, continuing to be at the bottom of the V.League 2025/26 rankings.
