Nghe An Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection celebrates 40 years of establishment and growth
This afternoon, November 5, Nghe An Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection held a ceremony to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, former leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and many officers and employees of the Department through the periods.
Timely forecasting and forecasting of pests and diseases
Established in 1985, during the 40-year development journey, one of the top key tasks of Nghe An Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection is to investigate, estimate and forecast plant pests and diseases.
Overcoming all difficulties, the unit has accurately forecasted, advised and organized timely prevention of dangerous epidemics, helping farmers proactively prevent and prevent the spread of pests, causing serious damage on a large scale, protecting thousands of hectares of crops, and preserving food production for the province.

In particular, new harmful organisms have been promptly investigated and detected, and previously minor organisms have gradually become major harmful organisms such as spider mites, black-striped dwarf, mobile yellow leafhoppers that harm rice, fall armyworms that harm corn, phytopthora that harm oranges, Fusarium on upland crops, and acacia wilt... From there, proactively advise, propose solutions and organize and direct prevention and protection of production quickly and effectively.
In the field of plant quarantine, the Department focuses on effectively preventing the entry of foreign organisms, directing the timely and thorough containment of objects that have entered the area such as potato scab and Mexican bean weevil. At the same time, it also manages well the business management and use of plant protection drugs in the area.

Contribute to building advanced and sustainable agricultural production
During its operation, Nghe An Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has played a core role, promoting the application of scientific and technological advances, transferring advanced farming processes, especially Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to minimize the use of pesticides and protect the soil and water environment.

At the same time, build and develop safe production models, support farmers in establishing growing areas that meet VietGAP, GlobalGAP and other food safety standards. Participate in building growing area codes for export, advise the Department of Agriculture and Environment to issue decisions to recognize 118 parent trees and 22 parent tree gardens, contribute to supporting organizations and individuals in exploiting breeding material sources and quickly putting recognized varieties into production; issue 118 domestic growing area codes...

The unit has also actively advised on the timely and effective development of crop production projects for the Spring, Summer-Autumn and Winter crops every year, helping localities have a basis for timely and accurate implementation at the grassroots level. In recent years, the province's grain crop output has always met and exceeded the set target of more than 1.2 million tons/year. From 2016 to 2025, Nghe An has converted more than 3,900 hectares of ineffective rice land to other crops, resulting in 1.5 to 3 times higher economic efficiency.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Vo Thi Nhung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment acknowledged: During 40 years of construction and development, with the efforts of generations of cadres and employees, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of the province has affirmed its role as one of the pioneering and key units in protecting and improving the productivity and quality of local agricultural products. Not only fulfilling the mission of preventing plant diseases, but also making an important contribution to transforming the province's agriculture towards sustainability, safety and increased value.

With its achievements, Nghe An Plant Protection and Cultivation Department was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President in 2000 and Second Class in 2003; and was awarded the title "Excellent Labor Collective" by the People's Committee of Nghe An province three times. Many Plant Protection Stations, cadres, civil servants and public employees were awarded Certificates of Merit by the People's Committee of the province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Prime Minister.
