Filip Nguyen is absent despite returning to competition
The goalkeeper of CAHN has recovered from his injury and started playing in the match against Macarthur in the C2 Asian Cup on the afternoon of November 6. Before that, he had a relapse of his injury in the match between CAHN and Macarthur at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of October 23. Initial information said that the recovery time could last about 2 months, but the recovery process was shortened and he returned soon.
The picture after AFF Cup 2024: gatherings and starting positions
After the AFF Cup 2024, Filip Nguyen continuously interrupted the training sessions of the Vietnam National Team. He did not participate in the March training session with 2 matches against Laos and Cambodia. In June, this goalkeeper started in the 0-4 loss to Malaysia. In October, he was absent again when the team had 2 matches against Nepal.
Despite being considered a European-class goalkeeper, Filip Nguyen’s presence in the national team has not been seamless. His absence in November extended that hiatus, in the context of his return to club competition.
Form at CAHN and competition for the goal
During Filip Nguyen’s time off, coach Mano Polking gave a chance to young goalkeeper Vu Thanh Vinh (born in 2005). Thanh Vinh “played a good role” with 2 wins and kept a clean sheet for CAHN.
Immediately after returning, Filip Nguyen started as a goalkeeper but CAHN lost 1-2 to Macarthur. The above series of results reflects the competition for goalkeeping positions at the club in recent times, and is also placed next to the latest call-up list of the national team.
Background of Vietnam national team's goalkeeping personnel
With three goalkeepers including Van Lam, Dinh Trieu and Van Viet, the Vietnam national team has completed its personnel plan for November. Tran Trung Kien is in U23 Vietnam, preparing for the SEA Games. The above list means that Filip Nguyen will not be in the national team's goal this month.
The changes and personnel choices in the goalkeeper position recently mainly revolved around physical condition, match schedule and training opportunities. In this training session, the role of guarding the goal will be taken on by three goalkeepers who have been called up.
