Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh surveyed resettlement sites for affected households in the border commune of Nhon Mai.
On the morning of November 7, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directly went to the border commune of Nhon Mai to inspect the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and survey the resettlement locations for affected households.
Also attending were comrade Pham Hong Quang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Construction; and leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches.

Recently, especially after storm No. 3 (storm Wipha), Nhon Mai commune suffered heavy damage due to flash floods and landslides, seriously affecting people's lives, property and livelihoods.
Total damage is estimated at nearly 781 billion VND; damage to houses alone is 296, with a value of more than 102 billion VND, of which 73 houses were swept away or completely buried.

More worryingly, many residential areas located under the positive slope or in the negative area of the mountain slope are still at risk of landslides and rolling rocks, directly threatening the lives and property of the people. Many areas have large cracks and weak ground, which can easily continue to slide if the rain continues or if there is geological impact.
Along with that, difficult traffic, lack of domestic water, local power outages and damaged essential infrastructure have made people's lives more precarious, not ensuring long-term stability.

Faced with the urgent situation, the urgent relocation of households living in high-risk areas to safe resettlement areas with basic infrastructure and production land is an essential need.
Nhon Mai Commune People's Committee has proposed to build a resettlement area in Pha Mut village with a total planning area of about 5.5 hectares, of which the leveling area is about 4.4 hectares and the construction area is 0.55 hectares, with a total estimated cost of 25 billion VND.
The resettlement area is expected to accommodate households whose houses were swept away; in Pha Mut village alone, there are 36 households with 174 people, of which 13 households with 64 people had their houses swept away by the flood.

Through the survey, Director of the Department of Construction Pham Hong Quang proposed to assign the commune as the investor, the Department will support the survey, plan the subdivision and guide the synchronous infrastructure, avoid the situation of spontaneous subdivision, ensure the rights and safety of the people.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh agreed with the proposed commune location and requested to focus on creating a map, arranging land and dividing residential plots; at the same time, emphasizing the active participation of the people from the beginning, even applying temporary lottery measures to ensure fairness.

At the same time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the commune to closely coordinate with relevant departments and branches to carry out procedures for converting the purpose of using protective forests; ensuring infrastructure planning such as roads, electricity, water, and wastewater treatment.
At Pha Mut village, comrade Le Hong Vinh visited and presented gifts to 13 households with 64 people who were living temporarily after their houses were completely swept away by the flood. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee shared and encouraged the people, expressed his understanding for the losses, and affirmed that the government would soon implement resettlement in a safe place, helping people stabilize their lives and production.

During the working trip, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also went to Cha Lo village to inspect the construction site of Nhon Mai Primary and Secondary Boarding School with 32 classes on an area of 51,000 m², meeting the learning needs of more than 1,200 students.
This is one of nine inter-level boarding schools in Nghe An that will simultaneously start construction on the morning of November 9 along with the rest of the country.

Next, comrade Le Hong Vinh went to the scene along Huoi Ben stream through Huoi Xai village, directly directing the landslide remediation plan, to ensure safety for people and long-term stability for the locality.
