The controversy began when Ky Duyen shared on a television program about having self-harmed during an argument with her boyfriend. Kỳ Duyên later posted a response, expressing her opinion that she didn't want to mention unrelated people. She wrote: "I've always disliked mentioning unrelated people and I also don't like unrelated people mentioning me... I recently participated in a program, and the MC asked a question related to ex-boyfriends. I found that word quite sensitive, so I intentionally changed my answer to something else, but in the end, I still couldn't avoid some controversy from someone."
In this incident, Thien An also attracted attention by posting a status update that was believed to be related: "But not every ex-lover dares to mention it for fear of being dragged into it." This move came amidst rumors that she is in a close relationship with Ky Duyen.
