Actor Lam Thai was arrested for stealing a handbag worth 200 million VND.
Lam Dong Provincial Police have initiated legal proceedings and temporarily detained actor Nguyen Lam Thai after he stole a handbag worth 200 million VND from Miss Cosmo Mexico in Da Lat.
On December 8th, the Lam Dong Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute and execute an arrest warrant against Nguyen Lam Thai (25 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) for theft. The suspect was identified as having stolen a handbag worth approximately 200 million VND from Miss Cosmo Mexico in Da Lat.
Earlier, in the early morning of December 6th, Leon Yuriar Angela Michelle, Mexico's representative at the Miss Cosmo competition, reported to the police that her handbag had been stolen. The incident occurred on the evening of December 5th while she was attending an event at Lam Vien Square, Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat. According to the report, the bag contained credit cards, a camera, cash, and many important personal items.
Upon receiving the report, the Xuan Huong Ward Police quickly deployed investigative measures to track down the suspect. The suspect, Nguyen Lam Thai, was arrested shortly afterward. At the police station, Thai confessed to all his crimes and returned the stolen property.
Based on statements and evidence, the Lam Dong Provincial Police have prosecuted Nguyen Lam Thai for "Theft of property" under Clause 1, Article 173 of the Penal Code. According to verified information, Thai previously had a conviction for the same crime, receiving a 14-month suspended sentence from the People's Court of District 19, Ho Chi Minh City, and is currently on a 28-month probationary period.
