Singer lip-syncs at the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games.
Violette explained that the organizers of the SEA Games 33 opening ceremony required the artists to lip-sync to ensure a smooth performance.
Following her performance on the evening of December 9th, Violette Wautier took to her personal page to apologize to the audience. She admitted that her live performance had too many flaws, and her vocals were off-key and out of tune.
The singer said she felt her reputation, image, and career had been damaged after the incident, especially since there was nothing she could do to salvage the situation as the show had already ended.

Violette explained that the organizers required the artist to lip-sync to ensure a smooth performance. However, when she stepped onto the stage, the microphone was turned on without any prior notice. Her in-ear headphones also failed to play her live vocals, resulting in a completely different sound from the prepared recording.
She shared that she rarely lip-syncs in her career and deeply regrets that the performance turned out much worse than expected. If she had known she would have to sing live under equipment malfunction, she could have removed her headphones or found a way to fix it herself so that the performance wouldn't have been so severely affected. Violette believes that if she had sung live, even with mistakes, she would still feel more at ease.
Her boyfriend, actor Kao Jirayu, posted a message expressing his disappointment with the organizers after the incident. He wrote that he had nothing more to say and was extremely disappointed with how the situation was handled.
During the opening ceremony, Violette, along with rappers Golf F.Hero and Twopee, performed the official song of the 33rd SEA Games. However, the performance sparked controversy and was deemed a "disaster" by many viewers due to clearly off-key singing and signs of lip-syncing. Prior to this, Thai fans had high expectations for the performance, especially with the participation of BamBam, a member of the K-pop group GOT7.
Violette Wautier, 32, of Belgian and Thai descent, is one of Thailand's most popular artists known for her English-language songs. Her hit song "Smoke" made her the Thai artist with the most listened-to English song. Besides music, she also acts in films and has a large fan base in the region.
