Nghe An launches the National Action Month on Population 2025.

On the morning of December 12th, the Department of Health organized a ceremony to launch the National Action Month on Population and commemorate Vietnam Population Day on December 26th.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Nam – Deputy Director of the Department of Health – affirmed that, in the context of the country entering a new era – the era of "national progress" – the quality of human resources is considered a key factor, the most valuable social capital that determines the sustainable development of the homeland.

Over the years, the province's Population and Development work has also marked landmark achievements, reflecting the efforts of the entire political system. As a result, the birth rate has been successfully reduced from 2.76 children per woman in 2021 to 2.25 children per woman in 2024, approaching the replacement level.

This is a crucial turning point, shifting the focus from controlling scale to improving overall quality. Models like the "Five No's, Three Cleanliness Standards for Families" have helped reshape people's perceptions of a happy, progressive family.

However, alongside the achievements, the leaders of the Department of Health also acknowledged that population work is still facing strategic challenges. These include the low quality of the population, especially in remote, mountainous areas; the persistent high rate of gender imbalance at birth; and the continued existence of social problems such as injuries, social vices, and domestic violence. The prevention of social vices such as prostitution, drug abuse, and HIV/AIDS must be integrated with social welfare and assistance programs, because the health and happiness of the people are interconnected.

Để hiện thực hóa mục tiêu “Dân khỏe - nước mạnh - gia đình hạnh phúc - xã hội phát triển”, ngành Y tế Nghệ An xác định 3 trụ cột hành động logic và đồng bộ trong thời gian tới, đó là nâng cao vai trò lãnh đạo và chuyển đổi nhận thức, tối ưu dịch vụ và xây dựng mạng lưới an sinh xã hội và hiện đại hóa hệ thống quản lý và nâng cao năng lực.

Tại buổi lễ, Phó Cục trưởng Cục dân số - Bộ Y tế Hoàng Thị Thơm cho biết, năm 2025 công tác dân số được Đảng và Nhà nước đặc biệt quan tâm. Ngay trong tháng 12 này, Quốc hội vừa thông qua Luật Dân số, Chương trình mục tiêu Quốc gia chăm sóc sức khỏe, dân số và giai đoạn 2026 - 2035…

Những cơ chế, chính sách nêu trên sẽ tạo luồng sinh khí mới, khơi nguồn tốt đẹp cho những chương trình, kế hoạch trong những năm tới.

Phó Cục trưởng Cục Dân số cũng đánh giá cao những thành tựu mà công tác dân số của Nghệ An đã đạt được trong những năm qua. Từ thành công này, thời gian tới lãnh đạo Bộ Y tế đề nghị tỉnh cần tiếp tục thực hiện tốt công tác tham mưu cấp ủy Đảng, chính quyền tăng cường lãnh đạo, chỉ đạo công tác dân số theo nội dung của Nghị quyết số 21 về công tác dân số trong tình hình mới; làm tốt công tác tham mưu đảm bảo nguồn lực cho công tác dân số, nhất là trong bối cảnh thực hiện chính quyền địa phương 2 cấp, tiếp tục củng cố và ổn định tổ chức bộ máy và tăng cường sự phối hợp của các cấp, các ngành thực hiện tốt các mục tiêu, chỉ tiêu đã đề ra.

Dịp này, Sở Y tế đã tặng quà cho 10 sinh viên trên địa tỉnh đã có nhiều nỗ lực, vươn lên trong học tập.
