Vietnam women's futsal team defeats Philippines 1-0 to advance to the final.
The Vietnamese women's futsal team defeated the Philippines 1-0 in the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games to secure a place in the final on December 18th. Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said that the opponent defended very deep, slowing down the tempo and causing many difficulties for Vietnam, but the whole team overcame the pressure to achieve their goal.
In a semi-final match characterized by a disrupted tempo and rare gaps in the game, the Vietnamese women's futsal team still managed to find a way out: winning 1-0 against the Philippines to secure a place in the SEA Games 33 women's futsal final.
That minimal result speaks volumes about the game's dynamics. According to coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang, this was a "very difficult" match, as the Philippines proactively slowed down the tempo and defended very deep, forcing Vietnam to be patient in every attempt to score.

One goal, many layers of challenges.
In futsal, when the opponent sets up a low defensive block and accepts slowing down the pace, the challenge lies not only in finishing but also in maintaining concentration to avoid getting bogged down. Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang admitted that the Philippines' approach made it "difficult for his players to get close to the opponent's goal."
In reality, such a game often forces the team in possession to solve small but continuous problems: moving to create passing angles, circulating the ball to stretch the distance, and most importantly, controlling their mentality as time ticks away without clear chances appearing frequently. Vietnam overcame those "difficult" moments to make the difference with just one well-placed moment.
The anchor from the press conference room: the goal has been achieved, only the rest remains to be done.
Speaking after the match, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang emphasized the hard-fought nature of the victory and praised the entire team: "This was truly not an easy match, but I am very happy that the result favored the Vietnamese team. This victory is the result of the utmost effort and dedication of all the players to overcome the difficult stages of the match."
Regarding professional goals, the head coach stated that the team has achieved its immediate objective of reaching the final. However, the coaching staff will "continue to adjust some tactical aspects" to help the team perform better in the next match.

Psychology and pressure: victory could be the key to success.
Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang assessed the victory against the Philippines as a way to "relieve pressure," helping the players enter the final match with more confidence. "I have great faith in the spirit, effort, and determination of the athletes. The whole team is always ready and will make the best preparations for the upcoming match," he said.
He also acknowledged that the 33rd SEA Games had a high level of professionalism and intense competition in the region. With the familiar expectation from fans for a gold medal, Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang considered that as motivation for the team to continue striving.
Match schedule: Final on December 18th
According to the schedule, on December 18th, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will compete in the SEA Games 33 gold medal final. After a semi-final match decided by the narrowest margin, Vietnam understands what needs improvement: not only finding more ways to break through when the opponent defends deep, but also maintaining composure during periods when the game seems to "freeze" according to the opponent's wishes.
