Over 2,800 orphans in Nghe An province have received support through the "Godmother" program.

The "Godmother" program was launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union. In Nghe An, under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee, the program has spread widely with the participation of the entire political system, units, businesses, and benevolent individuals inside and outside the province.

From 2021 to 2025, the "Godmother" program in Nghe An has achieved many remarkable results. To date, Nghe An has connected with 1,544 godmothers, supporting 2,828 orphaned children, with mobilized resources exceeding 33 billion VND.

Notably, 100% of the children orphaned by COVID-19 have been connected with godmothers.

Many exemplary groups, individuals, and organizations participated in the program, including: the group of female National Assembly and Provincial People's Council delegates who directly connected with and sponsored 16 children; the Women's Association of the Provincial Military Command sponsoring 184 children; Hoang Gia Phat Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company sponsoring 108 children; the Women's Union of Quynh Luu commune connecting with and sponsoring 87 children; the Women's Committee of the Provincial Police sponsoring 82 children; and the Women's Association of the Border Guard with 49 children...

Speaking at the program, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Vo Thi Minh Sinh affirmed that the "Godmother" program is not just a social welfare program of the Women's Union, but a responsibility and a joint effort of the entire community and the entire political system. This is a vivid manifestation of the compassion, kindness, and benevolence of our nation.

At the same time, we acknowledge, commend, and sincerely thank the outstanding individuals and groups for their practical contributions during the implementation of the program over the past period.

However, the province currently has nearly 9,000 orphans, of which more than 7,000 belong to poor and near-poor households, and they urgently need the continued support of the community.

Based on that experience, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that attention should be paid to four key areas in the coming period. In particular, he emphasized that collectives, individuals, and all levels of the Women's Union should continue to work together to ensure the "Godmother" Program spreads widely and deeply.

Furthermore, we will continue to leverage the leadership of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Party committees and government, and the support of all sectors of the population to create a solid foundation for the program's continued effective implementation. At the same time, we will proactively expand connections with organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province to effectively mobilize social resources.

In particular, it is necessary to strengthen the application of digital technology, viewing it as an "information conduit" in the work of propaganda, monitoring, management, and updating data. At the same time, connect sponsoring organizations and individuals with children in extremely difficult circumstances in a tiered manner, with clear priorities. Gradually operate a centralized database, synchronized across all levels, ensuring that every situation is identified, every need is addressed promptly, every act of kindness is connected, and every support reaches the right recipient.

At the conference, 15 collectives and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the "Godmother" program during the 2021-2025 period were honored and rewarded.

On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union also launched the "Godmother" Program for the period 2025-2030. At the launch ceremony, nearly 1,000 children received sponsorship with a total committed support amount of over 13.4 billion VND.
