Authorities dismantled a network selling 25 tons of counterfeit cosmetics online.
The Quang Tri Provincial Police, in coordination with the Hanoi City Police and the Ninh Binh Provincial Police, led a special operation to dismantle a counterfeit goods trafficking ring operating online. The case involved three suspects, and authorities seized a large quantity of counterfeit cosmetics of unknown origin.
Previously, on January 13th, approximately 100 officers and soldiers from various operational units participated in solving the case, led by the Cyber Security Department andPreventing and combating high-tech crimes.The presiding officer, in coordination with the Security Investigation Department, the Mobile Police Department (Quang Tri Provincial Police), the Hanoi City Police, and the Ninh Binh Provincial Police, summoned and interrogated the following individuals: Nguyen Van Chung (born in 1993, residing in Ninh Binh); Pham Thi Tuyet (born in 1995); and Le Huu Minh (born in 1993), both residing in Hanoi City.
Initial confessions revealed that Pham Thi Tuyet imported counterfeit cosmetics manufactured in China through a foreign national residing in the Mong Cai border area. She then advertised and sold these counterfeit cosmetics at low prices on social media to numerous customers nationwide. Nguyen Van Chung purchased the goods and created multiple accounts on the Shopee e-commerce platform to continue selling them.
The Security Investigation Agency of the Quang Tri Provincial Police has executed urgent search warrants at the residences and warehouses of the suspects in Hanoi and Ninh Binh, seizing more than 25 tons of various cosmetic products of unknown origin.
Authorities are continuing to summon related individuals for questioning and to expand the investigation into the case.
