Vinh University does not recruit students based on aptitude test results, and some majors have stopped recruiting for the C00 subject group.
According to Vinh University's admissions plan, this year each major will only have two admission combinations. The university plans not to use the results of the aptitude test for admissions.
Vinh University has just announced its university admissions methods for 2026.

Regarding admission methods, it's noteworthy that this year the school is not admitting students based on the results of the aptitude test. Instead, the school is using four methods:Directionmethod 1This refers to direct admission for candidates who are eligible for priority consideration as stipulated in Circular No. 08/2022/TT-BGDĐT and Circular No. 06/2025/TT-BGDĐT of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Method 2Admission is based on the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam, applicable to all majors and training programs of the school. The minimum quality assurance threshold for admission will be determined and announced by the Admissions Council in accordance with regulations.
Method 3Admission is based on high school academic results (transcript), using the overall grade point average for the 12th grade year according to the chosen subject combination. This method applies to the majors and training programs specified in the university's admissions appendix. Candidates applying through this method must achieve a total score of 20 points or more in the three subjects of the chosen combination (including priority points, if any).
Method 4This is an admission method that combines the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam with the aptitude test scores organized by Vinh University. This method applies to three majors: Early Childhood Education, Physical Education, and Architecture.
In addition, Vinh University awards bonus points to candidates with outstanding achievements such as winning national or provincial-level student excellence awards; candidates participating in national science and technology competitions; and candidates with international certificates such as IELTS (Academic) for non-pedagogical majors and HSK (an international certificate) for Chinese Language majors, according to the specific regulations of the university.
Also in the 2026 admissions announcement of Vinh University, this year each major and training program will only consider applications based on 2 subject combinations, instead of 4 subject combinations as in previous years.
Notably, some majors no longer accept the C00 subject combination, such as Primary Education and National Defense and Security Education. Instead, the university uses the D01 (Literature - Mathematics - English) and C03 (Literature - Mathematics - History) subject combinations for Primary Education. National Defense and Security Education will use the X01 (Mathematics, Literature, Economics and Law Education) and X70 (Literature, History, Economics and Law Education) subject combinations.
Candidates applying for admission to the C00 group can register for the following majors: Literature Education, History and Geography Education, History Education, Geography Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Management, Law, Journalism, Cultural Management, and Political Science.
In 2025, the major with the highest admission score, also based on the C00 subject group, was History Education with 28.40 points; followed by Geography Education with 28.20 points. Other teacher training majors ranged from 25 to 27 points.
Speaking with Nghe An Newspaper and Radio & Television, a representative from the Teacher Training College - Vinh University stated: The decision not to recruit students from the C00 group in some teacher training majors is to align with current teaching practices. For example, primary school teachers, to teach academic subjects, need a solid foundation in many subjects, especially Literature and Mathematics.
Previously, many school administrators in primary schools in Nghe An province also stated that: Although in previous years the primary education teacher training program had very high entrance exam scores for the C00 group, with many students achieving 28 or 29 points, because it focuses on social science subjects, these teachers face difficulties when teaching natural science subjects.
