The VinFast VF 9 E-segment electric SUV is expected to have an attractive on-the-road price in early 2026 thanks to a 10% discount program and the government's recent extension of the registration fee exemption policy until 2027.
The VinFast VF 9 (formerly known as VF e36) is the flagship electric SUV of the Vietnamese brand, first launched at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. In the Vietnamese market, this model officially began deliveries in March 2023, directly competing with rivals in the same price range such as the Ford Explorer and Volkswagen Teramont.

In January 2026, customers purchasing the VinFast VF 9 will receive a 10% discount on the listed price under the "Intense for a Green Future" program, equivalent to a reduction of 150 to 170 million VND depending on the version. Notably, Decree 51/2025/ND-CP has extended the 100% exemption from registration fees for battery-powered electric vehicles until February 28, 2027.

In addition, VinFast discontinued its battery leasing policy from March 1, 2025. Customers who already owned vehicles with batteries before that date will have their free battery charging policy extended for another 6 months, until June 30, 2027.

The VinFast VF 9 boasts overall dimensions of 5,118 x 2,254 x 1,696 mm, comparable to large luxury SUVs like the BMW X7 or Lexus LX570. The exterior is striking with large embossed panels on the hood, creating a rugged and muscular look befitting an E-segment SUV.
The distinctive full-LED lighting system features V-shaped light strips extending both front and rear. The body is optimized for aerodynamics with hidden door handles. Depending on the version, the car is equipped with large wheels ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
Business class interior
The VF 9's cabin is designed in a minimalist style but is packed with technology. At the center of the dashboard is a 15.6-inch touchscreen integrating all control and entertainment systems. Notably, the car lacks traditional gauges behind the steering wheel, instead using a head-up display (HUD) on the Plus version.
Users can choose between 6 or 7-seat configurations. The second row in the Plus version is designed in a business-class style with two independent seats, each with its own control panel, and a 3-zone automatic climate control system with activated carbon HEPA filters.
Powerful performance and ADAS safety technology.
The VinFast VF 9 is equipped with two electric motors for a total maximum power output of 402 horsepower and a maximum torque of 620 Nm. The all-wheel drive (AWD) system allows the car to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in approximately 6.5 seconds. With a 92 kWh battery, the car has a range of 423 to 438 km on a single full charge.

In terms of safety, the car has achieved a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP and NHTSA with 11 airbags. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic lane change, and intelligent vehicle summoning.
Despite its considerable weight and occasional software updates, the VinFast VF 9 remains a worthwhile 7-seater SUV option thanks to its spacious interior, features that exceed its price range, and excellent after-sales service in Vietnam.
