The 20-year journey of explorer Paul Rosolie in unraveling the mysteries of the Amazon rainforest.
Paul Rosolie reveals his breathtaking encounters with the Mashco-Piro tribe and his survival experiences in the Amazon rainforest during two decades of perilous exploration.
Paul Rosolie, a 39-year-old American explorer, has spent nearly two decades living and working in the Amazon rainforest. There, he has repeatedly encountered dangerous animals such as venomous snakes and crocodiles, contracted rare tropical diseases, and even clashed with drug trafficking groups. The scars on his body are clear evidence of his arduous exploration journey in the planet's most mysterious ecosystem.
A lawless world and tribes never before encountered.
According to Paul Rosolie, the Amazon is incredibly vast, with many areas almost entirely unexplored. He states that tribes with no prior contact with the outside world still exist there, often known only through oral tradition or on-site evidence. One such group is the nomadic Mashco-Piro, considered "legendary" for their absolute isolation.
During an expedition along the southern tributaries, Paul's group had a rare encounter with the Mashco-Piro tribe. Upon reaching the headwaters of the river, they spotted people emerging from the deep forest in a state of heightened vigilance, carrying bows and arrows. Paul described them as living in a period using bamboo tools, not even yet reaching the Stone Age. The interaction was cautious, with his group providing food as requested by the tribe to ensure their safety.

Indigenous knowledge and "survival technology" in the deep forest.
Besides the dangers from wild animals, Paul Rosolie emphasizes that the Amazon is not only deadly but also contains invaluable medical knowledge of the indigenous people. He calls this "survival technology" that the modern world has yet to fully understand.
Remarkably, during a severe infection following tularemia (a tick-borne disease), Paul was treated by a native man named JJ with tree sap and herbs. The infection was almost completely controlled overnight. On another occasion, after being stung by a stingray and experiencing intense pain, he was also treated with tree bark and forest medicinal herbs to draw out the venom.
Furthermore, the American explorer also shared his spiritual experience with ayahuasca – a potent herb that affects the nervous system, prepared by a local shaman. He described it as an extremely terrifying journey, making one feel as if they were traversing the process of the universe's formation, opening doors to previously unknown realms of consciousness.
The mission to protect the future of our green lungs.
Currently, the Amazon is facing major challenges from illegal logging, gold miners, and drug trafficking gangs. To address this situation, Paul Rosolie and his partner JJ founded the Junglekeepers organization. What makes this organization unique is that it recruits former loggers or miners to become forest rangers protecting the forest.

To date, Junglekeepers are protecting over 536 square kilometers of forest and are working towards establishing a national park. Paul asserts that the Amazon plays a vital role in the fate of the world. He believes that the current generation is the last chance to save this forest before the invaluable knowledge associated with it is permanently lost due to urbanization.
