Ensuring democracy and equality in election campaigning.
Along with the rest of the country, localities in Nghe An province are urgently implementing election campaigning for candidates running for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. This is a crucial stage for voters to interact with candidates, better understand them; and on that basis, consider, choose, and elect those who meet the qualifications to be National Assembly representatives and People's Council representatives.
Be close to the people, understand the people, and build action programs that are relevant to reality.
As the Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Muong Quang commune and a candidate for the commune's People's Council for the 2026-2031 term, Ms. Lang Thi Huong is always close to and attentive to the thoughts and aspirations of the union members and people in the villages. In preparation for the election campaign, she has developed a specific and practical action plan, hoping to become a reliable bridge between the people and the government, contributing to building a more prosperous, peaceful, and well-off Muong Quang commune.
Ms. Lang Thi Huong shared: “Through meetings with voters, I noticed that women are very eager to expand collective economic models and develop traditional brocade weaving, but they still face difficulties in terms of capital, science and technology, and product outlets. Based on that reality, I have developed an action plan with specific solutions suitable to the local conditions. If elected by voters as a representative to the Commune People's Council, I will actively propose mechanisms and policies to support women in accessing preferential capital; coordinate the organization of training courses to transfer science and technology and household economic management skills; and connect product consumption with suitable markets in mountainous areas.”

According to the law, election campaigning by candidates involves meeting and interacting with voters or using mass media to inform voters about their proposed action programs and discuss issues of concern to voters. The campaign period begins on the date of the official announcement of the list of candidates and ends 24 hours before the start of voting.
Strengthen supervision and ensure fairness and transparency.
In election campaigns, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee plays a crucial role in monitoring and ensuring that activities are conducted democratically, openly, equally, and in accordance with the law.
On February 27, 2026, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province issued Plan No. 36 on organizing voter outreach meetings to campaign for candidates running for the 16th National Assembly and the 19th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031. To ensure maximum reach to voters and save time and costs, meetings with voters in the localities where candidates are running will be organized in various forms: in person; a combination of in-person and online; and through mass media. Organizing voter outreach meetings at least at two levels will facilitate candidates running for both levels simultaneously (running for both the National Assembly and the Provincial People's Council, or running for both the Provincial People's Council and the Commune People's Council) to reduce travel time and costs and make it easier for the people to participate.
Mr. Tran Khanh Son, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Hieu commune, said: "The locality has closely coordinated between the Standing Committee of the People's Council and the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee to organize meetings with voters, agreeing on the content and time for candidates to present their action programs; ensuring fairness and equality for all candidates."

In Tri Le border commune – a large area with difficult transportation and a scattered population – election campaigning has been meticulously implemented. “The commune has 21 hamlets and villages, including 5 villages of the Mong ethnic minority near the Vietnam-Laos border. Members of the election committee have been assigned to remote villages to organize meetings with voters, while also strengthening propaganda and mobilization efforts to raise awareness and civic responsibility among the people, ensuring full participation in voter outreach meetings and voting on time,” said Mr. Xong Ba Cha, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tri Le commune.
Personnel preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Nghe An have been carried out in accordance with regulations. The number of candidates for the National Assembly officially listed is 28, from which 16 deputies will be elected; the number of candidates for the Provincial People's Council is 140, from which 85 deputies will be elected. At the commune level, the total number of People's Council deputies to be elected for the 2026-2031 term is 2,912.
At voter outreach meetings, candidates presented specific action programs if elected as National Assembly or People's Council representatives. Voters frankly expressed their opinions, suggestions, and aspirations; the candidates engaged in democratic and open discussions on issues of concern, demonstrating a sense of responsibility to the voters and the people.
Mr. Xong Ba Thai, Head of Huoi Moi village, Tri Le commune, shared:"In the highlands, people are often hesitant and reluctant to express their opinions. But at the voter outreach meeting, in a democratic atmosphere, people were able to frankly express their thoughts and aspirations. The candidates listened, took notes, and exchanged ideas very specifically, making us feel closer and more trusting. We hope that the promises made today will become practical actions in the next term."
With the coordinated efforts of Party committees, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, and other organizations, election campaigning in Nghe An not only focuses on introducing candidates but also serves as an opportunity to listen to the legitimate concerns and aspirations of voters – especially those related to people's lives and socio-economic development.
Strict adherence to legal regulations during election campaigns contributes to ensuring that the election takes place safely, lawfully, and truly becomes a festival for the entire nation; at the same time, it improves the quality of elected representatives, meeting the trust and expectations of voters.
