According to the Customs Department, wheat imports in the first 11 months of 2025 reached nearly 5.16 million tons, worth $1.38 billion, recording a decrease in both quantity, value, and price.

According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, in the first 11 months of 2025, Vietnam imported nearly 5.16 million tons of various types of wheat. The total import value reached over 1.38 billion USD with an average price of 267.7 USD/ton. Compared to the same period in 2024, this commodity recorded a uniformly downward trend: a decrease of 4% in volume, 6.5% in value, and 2.7% in average value.

Market volatility in November 2025

In November 2025 alone, wheat imports reached 429,089 tons, equivalent to $117.32 million. The average price for that month was $273.4 per ton, a 2.9% increase compared to October 2025. Although the volume and value decreased compared to the previous month (down 19.5% and 17.2% respectively), compared to November 2024, the market showed improvement with a 20.9% increase in volume and a 15.6% increase in value.

Structure of key supply markets

Australia continues to maintain its position as Vietnam's largest wheat supplier. In the first 11 months of 2025, the country accounted for 25.6% of the total volume and 26.2% of the total value of Vietnam's wheat imports, reaching 1.32 million tons (worth over US$361.77 million). Although imports from Australia increased by 28.2% compared to the same period, the average price decreased by 10.3%, to US$274 per ton.

The second largest market is Brazil, with 11-month volume reaching 989,002 tons, equivalent to $254.41 million. This market accounts for 19.2% of the total volume but recorded a decrease of 15.8% in volume and 13.2% in value compared to the first 11 months of 2024. Notably, in November 2025, Vietnam continued to have no wheat imports from Brazil.

Meanwhile, the US market ranked third and recorded a surge in growth. Wheat imports from the US reached 804,151 tons, a sharp increase of 66.9% in volume and 47.5% in value compared to the same period last year, despite the average import price decreasing by 11.6% to $273.2 per ton.
