Launching the "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" Contest in Nghe An.
On the afternoon of March 10th, the Command of Coast Guard Region 1, in coordination with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Provincial Party Committee and the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province, launched the "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" competition in Minh Chau commune.
Participating in the activities were Major General Tran Van Hau - Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command; Colonel Nguyen Van Thien - Director of the Department of Operations and Law, Vietnam Coast Guard; and Colonel Tran Van Nam - Head of Political Affairs of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command.
Representing the province were Comrade Pham Ngoc Canh – Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, along with leaders from several provincial departments and agencies, and Minh Chau commune.
Attracting hundreds of students to participate.
The "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" competition was launched nationwide. In Nghe An province, the competition was organized for junior high school students in coastal communes and wards.
The competition is part of the "Accompanying Fishermen in Staying at Sea" program organized by the Command of Coast Guard Region 1.
The competition aims to inform and raise awareness about the situation of the sea and islands, and current legal regulations concerning them. The focus is on the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, the Law on the Sea of Vietnam, the Law on Fisheries of Vietnam, along with legal regulations on the sovereignty and security of the nation's sea and islands; regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing…
The "I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands" competition in Minh Chau commune attracted hundreds of junior high school students who participated in the preliminary round to select 100 finalists.
The final round consisted of three parts. The first part involved answering questions in a "Golden Bell" format, covering topics related to Vietnam's seas and islands, legal regulations concerning the sea and islands, the Vietnamese Coast Guard; the traditions of the Coast Guard; local culture, history, geography, and traditions; and drug prevention and control, as well as violence in schools.
The competition included literary and artistic writing, expressing feelings about the sea, islands of the homeland, and the soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard. There was also a painting competition with the theme "The Sea, Islands of the Fatherland and the Soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard".
Along with organizing the "I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands" contest, the "Accompanying Fishermen in Staying at Sea" program also includes many practical and meaningful activities. These include distributing leaflets and handing out "legal handbooks" to officials and residents; donating national flags, life jackets, lifebuoys, and gifts to fishermen. Simultaneously, it organizes social welfare activities to support and assist fishermen, residents, and students in difficult circumstances in the area.
Spreading love and protecting the seas and islands of our homeland.
Speaking at the program, on behalf of the provincial leadership, Comrade Pham Ngoc Canh – Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department – sincerely thanked the Command of Coast Guard Region 1 for its attention and support for the development of the province in general and the people of Nghe An in particular, including many activities to educate on patriotic traditions, raise awareness, and spread love and responsibility for protecting the sea and islands of the homeland among all strata of the people, especially the younger generation.
Pham Ngoc Canh, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, also emphasized: Vietnam's seas and islands are a sacred part of the Fatherland, closely linked to the nation's history of building and defending the country. Throughout history, generations of ancestors have spared no effort or blood to protect the sovereignty of the seas and islands. Therefore, educating the younger generation about the seas and islands, national sovereignty, and their civic responsibility in protecting the Fatherland is an extremely important and sacred task.
Through the "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" contest in Minh Chau commune, not only is legal awareness regarding the seas and islands being raised among officials, citizens, and fishermen, but also love for the homeland and a sense of responsibility in protecting the sacred sovereignty of the nation's seas and islands are being spread.

At the same time, it demonstrates the close ties and companionship of the Vietnam Coast Guard with the people in coastal areas; promptly encouraging and supporting fishermen to confidently go out to sea, develop the economy while protecting sovereignty and security at sea. Through this, it contributes to consolidating the people's support at sea, building a stronger and more enduring relationship of solidarity between the military and the people, working together to preserve and promote the value of the homeland's seas and islands.
Comrade Pham Ngoc Canh also expressed his hope that all levels, sectors, political and social organizations, and schools would continue to pay attention to and promote propaganda and education on the sea and islands, national sovereignty, and the preservation of the marine environment among students and the people; and create more practical activities so that the younger generation can learn, experience, and become more attached to the sea and islands of their homeland.
On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 1 donated 3 televisions to schools and 36 bicycles to students, along with 20 gift packages for disadvantaged households and 20 bicycles to 20 disadvantaged students in Minh Chau commune.
Within the framework of the "Coast Guard accompanying fishermen" program in Nghe An, the Command of Coast Guard Region 1 also organized many practical and meaningful activities in Dien Chau commune on March 11, 2026.
