During the discussion, Comrade Phan Van Giap, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Tan An commune, stated that the commune's Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term has identified three breakthroughs, including the transformation of the agricultural sector structure, focusing on changing the crop structure, with pineapple as the main crop. Over the past period, the commune has collaborated with the Nghe An Plant Seed Center to support the local community and provide high-quality pineapple seedlings with high yield and good adaptability; at the same time, it has supported the transfer of scientific and technical knowledge, guided planting, caring for, and pest and disease control processes to improve production efficiency and ensure the quality of raw materials for processing and long-term consumption.

Creating a supply chain in pineapple production.

According to the plan, Nghe An province will plant 1,000 hectares of pineapples to supply raw materials for a fruit processing plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons of products per year, owned by Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company, which is expected to start construction in Nghe An in June this year.

Following the inspection, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De requested that relevant departments and agencies coordinate with the local authorities in surveying and selecting the most suitable location for Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company to build a fruit processing plant in Phuc Loc commune. The general directive of the province is to support and create the best possible conditions for businesses to invest in building processing plants to create a linked chain in pineapple production.

At the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is requested to coordinate with local authorities to carefully survey which land areas are suitable for pineapple cultivation before including them in the raw material zone. Pineapple cultivation areas should not overlap with other raw material crops that have stable outlets for processing plants. The Department of Agriculture and Environment needs to strengthen training to improve pineapple cultivation techniques for farmers. Specialized agencies need to effectively manage the quality of pineapple seed sources when new plantings are introduced.

Recently, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in investing in and building a high-tech fruit processing plant linked to the development of raw material areas in the province. This is considered an important step, contributing to promoting deep processing, increasing the added value of local agricultural products, and creating a stable and long-term market for key agricultural products, including pineapples.
