Google has officially announced Gemma 4, the next generation of open-source large-scale language models (LLMs) built on the technology of the Gemini 3 Pro system. To meet diverse user needs, Google has divided Gemma 4 into four distinct versions based on parameter scale. For mobile users, the company offers two compact versions called "Effective" with 2 billion and 4 billion parameter structures, optimizing hardware resources while maintaining processing speed.
For high-performance computing systems or servers, users can choose between the "Mixture of Experts" (MoE) version with 26 billion parameters or the "Dense" version with up to 31 billion parameters. This tiered approach allows developers to select the model best suited to their existing hardware infrastructure.

Despite its smaller size compared to many competitors, Gemma 4 demonstrates incredible processing power. According to data from the Arena AI rankings, the two highest-end versions of Gemma 4 quickly rose to the top 3 and top 6 in text processing capabilities. Notably, these models can outperform AIs up to 20 times larger in terms of efficiency and intelligence.

Gemma 4 isn't limited to just text processing. All four versions are capable of reading and understanding content in images and analyzing video data. In particular, the models designed for phones are optimized for voice comprehension and audio processing with high accuracy.
