Israel estimates that Iran possesses more than 1,000 medium-range ballistic missiles.
The Israeli military assesses that Iran has retained a significant strategic weapons stockpile thanks to its system of launch platforms hidden deep within tunnels, capable of sustaining fighting for months.
The Israeli military has for the first time publicly assessed the size of Iran's arsenal, estimating that it still possesses more than 1,000 medium-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching Israeli territory. According to an unnamed air force officer who spoke to Channel 12, this figure represents a significant security challenge despite ongoing preemptive strike plans.
Current status of Iran and Hezbollah's weapons stockpiles.
Before the conflict broke out, Iran was believed to possess around 2,000 medium-range ballistic missiles. To date, more than 500 have been launched toward Israel or destroyed on the ground. Military reports indicate that the biggest challenge for the defenses is that Iran is deploying missiles from dozens of launch platforms located in tunnels deep within remote mountainous areas, making complete destruction difficult.
In addition, the Hezbollah armed group in Lebanon is estimated to possess between 8,000 and 10,000 rockets. With an average launch rate of 200-250 rockets per day targeting Israeli forces and the northern border region, this force is creating continuous firepower pressure to support its ally Iran.
Israel's defensive and response tactics
To counter attacks from Lebanon, Israel is refining its early detection technology to increase warning time for its citizens. In northern Israel, tens of thousands of civilians remain sheltered in bomb shelters as air raid sirens blare continuously.
Strategically, Israel has stated it will continue its airstrikes aimed at undermining the national infrastructure and operational capabilities of the Islamic Republic's government. Notably, US President Donald Trump has also warned that he may target Iranian bridges and power plants in the near future to increase pressure.
Efforts to stabilize civilian life
Despite the ongoing conflict, the Israeli government is gradually restoring civilian activities. Specifically:
- Education:The Ministry of Education is expected to announce a plan for students to return to in-person school this week.
- Traffic:Airport authorities are increasing the frequency of departing flights.
- Entertainment:Movie theaters have begun reopening but are still strictly adhering to the IDF's regulations on restricting large gatherings.
Currently, neither Iran nor Hezbollah have officially commented on the Israeli estimates of their weapons stockpiles, and neither has shown any signs of de-escalating the ongoing military operations.
