World oil prices today, April 8, 2026: Brent and WTI oil prices both fell by more than 15%. Some other energy commodities bucked the trend.
World oil prices fell by more than 15% across the board on April 8th, specifically:
WTI crude oil fell $17.871 to $94.539 per barrel, a decrease of 15.90%.
Brent crude oil plunged to $17.609, falling to $92.161 per barrel, a 16.04% drop — its sharpest single-day decline in years.
Refined oil products plummet across the board.
Gasoline fell $0.3819 to $2.9263 per gallon, a drop of 11.54%.
Heating oil fell by $0.5728 to $3.7556 per gallon, a decrease of 13.23%.
Natural gas also fell slightly by $0.049 to $2.7620/mmBTU, a loss of 1.74%.
Some other energy commodities bucked the trend.
Methanol saw the most significant increase, rising by $277 to $3,553 per ton, an 8.46% increase.
Naphtha rose $14.82 to $1,010.48 per ton, an increase of 1.49%.
Coal prices edged up slightly by $0.60 to $138.50 per ton, a 0.44% increase.
Propane rose $0.01 to $0.78 per gallon, an increase of 1.39%.
Urals crude oil stood at $121.17 per barrel, ethanol at $1.99 per gallon, and uranium at $85.15 per pound — all three unchanged from the previous session.
