Fertilizer prices today, April 29th: Urea from Ca Mau 675,000 VND/bag, Russian DAP 1,245,000 VND/bag, NPK from Binh Dien 960,000 VND/bag
Fertilizer prices today, April 29, 2026Urea from Ca Mau was recorded at 675,000 VND/bag, Russian DAP at 1.245 million VND/bag, and Binh Dien NPK 20-20-15 at 960,000 VND/bag. Domestic prices remain high as the global market faces pressure from supply disruptions.
Fertilizer prices are currently a significant input cost for farmers. When fertilizer prices rise, the cost of crop production increases, potentially reducing profits if agricultural product prices do not rise accordingly.
Today's domestic fertilizer prices
DAP fertilizer prices continue to be among the highest in the market. Korean DAP was recorded at 1.095 million VND/bag, with a lowest price of 1.070 million VND/bag and a highest price of 1.120 million VND/bag.
Russian DAP is currently priced at 1.245 million VND/bag, about 150,000 VND/bag higher than Korean DAP. The trading range for Russian DAP fluctuates from 1.220 million to 1.270 million VND/bag.
The price of potassium fertilizer fluctuates around 545,000 – 560,000 VND/bag. Ca Mau powdered potassium is priced at 560,000 VND/bag, while Phu My powdered potassium is priced at 545,000 VND/bag.
Phosphate fertilizers are priced much lower than DAP and NPK. Lam Thao phosphate is priced at 305,000 VND/bag, while Van Dien phosphate is priced at 315,000 VND/bag.
In the NPK group, Phu My NPK 16-16-8 was recorded at 715,000 VND/bag, Ca Mau NPK 16-16-8 at 725,000 VND/bag, and Dau Trau NPK 16-16-8 at 800,000 VND/bag.
Binh Dien NPK 20-20-15 is currently one of the most expensive NPK products, priced at 960,000 VND per bag. This price is about 245,000 VND higher than Phu My NPK 16-16-8.
Urea from Ca Mau is currently priced at 675,000 VND/bag, with a lowest range of 660,000 VND/bag and a highest range of 690,000 VND/bag. This is a closely monitored commodity because urea is an important nitrogen fertilizer in many cropping seasons.

Why have global fertilizer prices risen sharply?
Global fertilizer prices are entering their second sharp increase in four years. The main reason is geopolitical conflicts disrupting supply in the Middle East.
The Middle East is a major global center for fertilizer production and export. When shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz are disrupted, the global fertilizer supply chain is stretched.
The supply of urea has been severely impacted as several major plants in Qatar have had to temporarily cease operations. Urea is an essential nitrogen-based fertilizer widely used in the cultivation of rice, corn, vegetables, and many industrial crops.
Besides urea, other inputs such as sulfur and ammonia are also becoming scarcer. When raw material prices rise, fertilizer production costs increase, and market prices are often pushed up.
Farmers are under pressure as agricultural prices do not increase proportionally.
Rising fertilizer prices are causing difficulties for farmers because many key agricultural products like wheat and soybeans are currently low due to abundant supply. When input costs increase but output prices do not, producers' profit margins are shrinking.
Many farmers around the world are having to reduce their fertilizer use or switch to cheaper products. This helps reduce costs in the short term but may lead to decreased yields and quality of agricultural products in subsequent seasons.
An estimated 2 million tons of urea, equivalent to 3% of global maritime trade, have been disrupted since the conflict broke out. Nearly 1 million tons of urea remain stranded in the Gulf region, making it difficult for the market to cool down quickly.
Risks to the global food market
High fertilizer prices can impact food supply if farmers continue to cut back on inputs. The effects are often not immediately apparent in a single crop, but may become more apparent in subsequent seasons.
In Western Australia, wheat acreage is expected to decrease by around 14% as farmers switch to crops that are less dependent on fertilizers. In Brazil, the trend of using less fertilizer or choosing cheaper alternatives is increasing.
In Southeast Asia, palm oil production is at risk of being pressured if fertilizer costs remain high. In Europe, some farmers are reducing the area of intensively cultivated corn and limiting fertilizer use for the harvest.
Forecast of fertilizer prices in the near future.
Fertilizer prices are unlikely to fall quickly if transportation disruptions and raw material shortages persist. Even when supply chains are restored, the market will still need time to clear existing inventory and adjust shipping flows.
In the short term, domestic fertilizer prices may continue to be influenced by world prices, exchange rates, import costs, and seasonal demand. Commodity groups such as DAP, urea, and potassium will be closely monitored as they are directly related to agricultural production costs.
