Fifteen Asian teams compete for eight spots in the FIFA U17 World Cup.
Besides the championship title, 15 Asian teams are competing for 8 spots in the FIFA U17 World Cup, held in Saudi Arabia from May 5th to May 22nd.
This year's final tournament will still be held in Saudi Arabia, with four groups determined after the draw in February. However, a week before the tournament began, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed that North Korea had withdrawn due to concerns about conflict in the Middle East.
The tournament now has 15 teams, but this does not affect the format. The teams will still play a round-robin format, with the top four teams and four second-place teams advancing to the quarterfinals, which will also qualify them for the World Cup. If Qatar reaches the quarterfinals, the best third-placed team will qualify for the World Cup.
