In order to improve urban infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion, from the beginning of 2026 until now, the Nghe An Provincial Road Maintenance Management Board, in coordination with relevant units, has surveyed and installed traffic signs at intersections and major streets in the wards of the former Vinh City.

According to the Department of Construction, in addition to maintaining and repairing signs damaged by storms, in the past three months, the unit has proposed installing over 140 additional signs at 47 intersections and streets. These signs mainly prohibit stopping, parking, and turning during specific hours to limit traffic conflicts and reduce congestion.

In addition, the traffic light system has been adjusted and supplemented; lane markings, herringbone lines, and directional arrows have been repainted on the roads, making traffic flow clearer and more convenient.

Mr. Phan Huu Chau, Deputy Head of the Provincial Road Maintenance Management Board, stated: After the transfer to a two-tiered local government system, the management of urban traffic signs and signals in the wards of the former Vinh City was assigned to the Provincial Road Maintenance Management Board. Based on the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the units have conducted field surveys, verifications, and implemented the system comprehensively.

In fact, after installing traffic signs and adjusting traffic organization, congestion at some intersections has decreased. Mr. Ngo Minh Thanh, from Vinh Phu ward, said that the ban on stopping, parking, and restricting turns during certain hours on Hoang Van Thu Street heading north of Ha Huy Tap Street has significantly reduced traffic congestion during peak hours.

At many intersections that were previously frequently congested, such as Truong Thi – Ho Tung Mau – Phan Dang Luu; the Lenin Boulevard roundabout; or the Ly Thuong Kiet and Nguyen Sy Sach routes, the system of traffic signs and road markings has proven effective, helping to improve traffic flow.
