A malfunctioning cooling system caused over 500 chickens at a farm in Tan Chau commune, Nghe An province, to suffocate to death on the evening of May 15th. In response to this unexpected loss, many local residents quickly joined forces to "rescue" the remaining chickens, helping the family sell them and spreading a spirit of solidarity and sharing within the community.

At approximately 4 PM on May 15th, a malfunction occurred in the cooling system of the poultry farm owned by Mr. Vu Dinh Thuat in Bach Y hamlet, Tan Chau commune, Nghe An province. This resulted in the death of over 500 commercial chickens, each weighing an average of about 2 kg.

The incident occurred during a period of intense heat, causing the temperature inside the coop to rise rapidly, leaving the chickens unable to adapt. The estimated damage amounts to tens of millions of dong, significantly impacting the family's finances.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Vu Dinh Thuat said that his family has been involved in poultry farming for many years, but this is the first time they have encountered such a serious incident.

“My family has been raising chickens for many years, and we regularly check the fan and cooling system. That afternoon, when we went to check, we discovered the system was clogged, and many chickens had suffocated to death. At that moment, my wife and I were really confused and didn't know what to do. Fortunately, our neighbors, relatives, and friends heard the news and came to encourage and support us by buying chickens to help our family overcome the difficulties,” Mr. Thuat shared.

Immediately after the information was shared, many people from within and outside the village came to the farm to help "rescue" the chickens. At a price of 50,000 VND per chicken, each weighing from 1.5 to 3 kg, hundreds of chickens were sold in a short time.

Besides buying directly, many people also shared information on social media, calling on relatives and friends to join hands in supporting the cause. These timely acts of kindness helped Mr. Thuat's family mitigate some of their losses.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Ngo Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Tan Chau Commune People's Committee, said that immediately after receiving the information, the local authorities checked and determined that the cause was a malfunction in the cooling system, not due to disease, and would not harm poultry farming in the area.

“After receiving the report, the local authorities coordinated with the people to help the family sell the chickens. The situation was basically resolved in a short time, helping the family reduce their losses. This is a very meaningful action, demonstrating the solidarity and mutual support of the local people,” Mr. Binh said.

According to Mr. Binh, Tan Chau commune currently has about 10 poultry farms with a total flock of tens of thousands of birds. Given the prolonged heatwave, the local authorities have advised farmers to regularly check their electrical systems, ventilation fans, cooling systems, and to have contingency plans in place to avoid unfortunate incidents.
