SAIC Motor Group is preparing to deliver its 100 millionth vehicle at the end of this month, marking the first time a Chinese automaker has achieved such a massive cumulative production volume on a global scale.
SAIC Motor has officially announced that it will reach the milestone of delivering its 100 millionth vehicle globally by the end of this month. With this achievement, SAIC Motor becomes the first automotive group in the history of the Chinese automotive industry to achieve a cumulative production and sales volume exceeding 100 million units.

To mark this momentous occasion, SAIC Motor announced it will host a massive global delivery event series. The program will originate in Shanghai, China, and connect directly to numerous countries around the world. The live broadcast will originate from the World Reception Hall in the North Bund, Shanghai, spreading across continents and featuring all of the group's brands.
The historical journey since 1955
Founded in 1955, SAIC Motor has undergone nearly seven decades of development with many significant milestones. In 1958, the company's first Phoenix-branded sedan was successfully produced on a trial basis. By 1983, SAIC Motor pioneered international joint ventures and collaborations, leading to the introduction of the first domestically assembled Santana in China.
Beyond traditional manufacturing, the company also focuses on modern technology. In 2015, SAIC led the smart car trend by creating the Roewe RX5 – the world's first car defined as an internet-connected vehicle.
Ambitious to lead with the Glocal 2025 strategy.
In terms of exports, SAIC Motor began exporting passenger cars to international markets in 2001. To date, the group's products and services are present in more than 170 countries and territories, with total exports exceeding 7 million vehicles. The company's international infrastructure includes more than 100 parts manufacturing facilities, 3,000 dealerships, and research and development centers in London and other locations.
Currently, SAIC Motor owns four major manufacturing and assembly centers in Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Pakistan. Notably, the company has also established the largest self-operating fleet of ships in China to exclusively serve the transcontinental transportation of automobiles.
Looking ahead to 2025, SAIC Motor is implementing its "Glocal" strategy – a combination of global thinking and local action. This strategy focuses on developing new product lines including SUVs, sedans, MPVs, and pickup trucks tailored to the specific characteristics of each market. Notably, models equipped with next-generation HEV hybrid systems will play a key role, helping the company expand its reach to the most important market segments worldwide.
