Nghe An province dissolves provincial and commune-level Traffic Safety Committees from June 1st.
From June 1st, 2026, Nghe An officially ceases the operation of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and the Traffic Safety Committees of communes and wards. The Provincial Police Department is assigned as the focal agency to lead the work of ensuring traffic safety and order in the province.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province has just issued Decision No. 2115/QD-UBND dated May 22, 2026, on terminating the operation and dissolving the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and the Traffic Safety Committees of communes and wards in the province. The decision takes effect from June 1, 2026.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, the Traffic Safety Committee model has revealed some limitations in the delineation of functions and responsibilities among departments, agencies, and mass organizations. Some aspects still overlap in direction and coordination, and the responsibility of the lead agency has not been clearly defined.

The dissolution aims to implement Decision No. 17/2026/QD-TTg on the dissolution of the National Traffic Safety Committee and local Traffic Safety Committees, in the direction of one agency performing multiple tasks and one task being assigned to only one lead agency.
According to the decision, the Nghe An Provincial Police Department is assigned as the focal agency to lead the work of ensuring traffic safety and order; performing the function of overall coordination throughout the province, such as compiling traffic accident data, monitoring and evaluating trends, and proposing inter-agency solutions.
The Nghe An Department of Construction is in charge of areas related to road, rail, and inland waterway transport infrastructure.
Other departments and agencies such as Education and Training, Health, Justice, Culture - Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Military Command, and the Provincial Youth Union continue to carry out traffic safety tasks according to their specialized functions.
Regarding personnel, all 6 civil servant positions of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee Office have been transferred to the Nghe An Department of Construction for reassignment according to job positions. As for the 2 contract employees, the relevant units will implement redundancy policies if the employees wish to resign.

Regarding assets, all working equipment and assets of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, including the official pickup truck, have been handed over to the Nghe An Department of Construction for management. Simultaneously, the transaction account has been closed and the seal has been canceled in accordance with regulations.
For the commune and ward level, the Provincial People's Committee requires the termination of the local Traffic Safety Committee's operations. The Chairpersons of the People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for issuing decisions to dissolve the committee, handing over files and documents, and using the existing organizational structure to directly implement traffic safety tasks until further notice.
The Provincial People's Committee requests that relevant units complete the transfer within 30 days from the effective date of the decision, ensuring that traffic safety and order maintenance in the area is not interrupted.
