Authorities arrested 94 individuals involved in an inter-provincial drug trafficking ring and seized numerous firearms and ammunition.
The Ninh Binh Provincial Police's Drug Crime Investigation Department, in coordination with professional units of the Ministry of Public Security, has just comprehensively dismantled a large-scale inter-provincial drug trafficking, storage, and illegal drug use ring.
The ringleader of this criminal network is Vu Van Bon (aka "Bun", born in 1986, residing in Vinh Tien Street, Dong Hoa Lu Ward, Ninh Binh Province). Assisting Bon effectively is Dang Van Duong (born in 1994, residing in Gia Tuong Commune, Ninh Binh Province), who specializes in transporting the "goods" for the ringleader.
Through intelligence gathering, authorities determined that Vu Van Bon regularly used social media applications such as Zalo, Facebook, and Telegram to manage and conduct transactions with individuals in Son La province. After finalizing orders, Bon instructed Dang Van Duong to personally go to the Northwest region to receive the drugs, transport them to a distribution point in Ninh Binh province and neighboring areas for sale.
After a long period of surveillance and operational measures, in Giao Thuy commune, Ninh Binh province, law enforcement officers caught Bui Van Thuan (born in 1997, residing in Phu Son commune, Ninh Binh province) red-handed while he was driving a car carrying Dang Van Duong, transporting 1kg of Ketamine and 5,000 synthetic drug pills for delivery.
Simultaneously, task forces raided and arrested individuals who had purchased drugs from Duong for retail sale in Ninh Binh province. At the scene, police seized hundreds of grams of methamphetamine, hundreds of synthetic drug pills, numerous vehicles, and notably, three firearms of various types, along with other related evidence.
Expanding the investigation, the police determined that "kingpin" Vu Van Bon and his close associate Le Van Son were hiding and using drugs at a hotel in Hoa Lu ward, Ninh Binh province. Investigators immediately moved in and unexpectedly raided the hotel, apprehending Bon, Son, and several related individuals while they were under the influence of drugs. Evidence seized included 37 ecstasy pills, 16.63 grams of Ketamine, two cars, and various related documents.
Simultaneously, another reconnaissance team approached and arrested three more individuals, subordinates of Le Van Son, while they were engaged in drug trafficking. They seized an additional 314 grams of Ketamine, 309 synthetic drug pills, and two cars.
Notably, to eradicate this drug trafficking network at its root, the Drug Crime Investigation Department, in coordination with the police in communes and wards across the province, had previously raided drug retail points, arresting 70 related individuals; seizing over 1,600 grams of narcotics, 654 synthetic drug pills, one handgun, and five bullets. Authorities also coordinated with the police in 21 communes and wards to summon and check 235 individuals under their supervision, promptly detecting 13 positive cases for processing according to regulations.
To date, authorities have arrested a total of 94 individuals for a range of dangerous offenses, including: buying, selling, transporting, possessing, organizing the use of, and harboring the illegal use of narcotics; illegal use of narcotics; concealing crimes; and illegal possession of military weapons.
The total seized items included: over 6,400 synthetic drug pills; over 3,420 grams of various types of drugs; 4 guns; 5 bullets; 14 cars and motorcycles; 250 million VND in cash, along with many other related assets and evidence.
The case is currently being further investigated by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ninh Binh Provincial Police.
