The Samsung Galaxy S27 Series features a Sony camera sensor and a host of new hardware upgrades.
Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus with a 50MP Sony main sensor, while also upgrading the selfie camera to 16MP and using the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip.
Following the unveiling of the next generation of foldable screens, the attention of the tech world continues to focus on the new flagship Galaxy S27 series. Reports from Galaxy Club suggest that Samsung is planning its biggest camera upgrade since the Galaxy S22, most notably a switch to a main sensor manufactured by Sony.
The partnership with Sony and the transformation of the 50MP main sensor.
According to leaked information, the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus are expected to drop the Samsung-made sensor and switch to a 50MP main sensor from Sony. This is considered a surprising move for the South Korean tech company's flagship models.
In fact, this isn't the first time these two companies have collaborated. Starting with the Galaxy S23, Samsung has integrated the Sony IMX564 12MP sensor into its ultra-wide-angle lens. However, placing a competitor's product in the main camera position on a flagship phone is an unprecedented strategic shift.
Upgraded 16MP selfie camera and streamlined design on the Ultra version.
Not only are the rear cameras on the two standard versions improved, but the higher-end models, including the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, also feature significant enhancements. Both versions are expected to upgrade to a 16MP front camera sensor. This marks the first selfie camera upgrade for the Galaxy S series after years of maintaining the same specifications.
For the top-of-the-line Galaxy S27 Ultra, the device will likely retain the 200MP main sensor. However, the rear camera system will be streamlined from four to three lenses to optimize design space and processing algorithms.
Security Screen technology and next-generation processors
Besides the optical system, the Galaxy S27 Series also boasts notable changes in hardware and processing performance:
- Privacy Display:This hardware-level privacy protection feature is expected to be integrated across all models in the Galaxy S27 Series.
- Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor:The Galaxy S27 Ultra version, along with variants specifically for the US market, will use this high-end chip.
- Exynos 2700 processor:The remaining markets will be equipped with the Exynos 2700 chip, developed and manufactured by Samsung itself, promising superior performance.
