How to calculate university entrance exam scores and admission scores for the 2026-2027 academic year (latest update)

University admission scores for 2026 depend on each school's admission method. Below are some common, concise, and easy-to-understand calculation methods:

1. Based on National High School Examination scores

Sectors without weighting factors:Admission score = Score of Subject 1 + Score of Subject 2 + Score of Subject 3 + Priority points (if any)

Example: Combination A00 (Math 7, Physics 7.5, Chemistry 8) = 7 + 7.5 + 8 = 22.5.

Some majors have subjects with weighted scores: Certain majors require aptitude tests or have core subjects where the score is doubled.

40-point scale formula:Admission score = (Subject 1 + Subject 2 + Subject 3) × 2 + Priority points

30-point scale formula:Admission score = [Subject 1 + Subject 2 + (Main subject × 2)] × 3/4 + Priority points

Priority points based on individual criteria

  • Groups 1, 2, 3, 4: plus2 points
  • Groups 5, 6, and 7: plus1 point

Regional priority

  • KV1: plus0.75 points
  • KV2-NT: plus0.5 points
  • KV2: plus0.25 points
  • KV3:no points awarded

2. Based on high school transcripts

Based on the combination of 3 subjects:Admission score = M1 + M2 + M3 + Priority points

If there are subjects with weighted coefficients:Admission score = [M1 + M2 + (M3 × 2)] × 3/4 + Priority points

In this system, M1, M2, and M3 represent the average scores of the subjects as specified by each school.

3. How to calculate the competency assessment score

The score for the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City is based on a maximum total score of 1,200 points:Points converted to a 30-point scale = Total points × 30 / 1,200

Hanoi National University's score with a maximum total of 150 points:Points converted to a 30-point scale = Total points × 30 / 150

4. How to calculate points according to common subject groups
