A journey to historical sites.
As part of the series of activities commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), the 81st anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2026), and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2026), the Youth Union of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee continued its journey to historical sites on Phu Quoc Island.
The trip was not only an activity to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs and our ancestors, but also an opportunity for each youth union member to reconnect with the roots of history, to listen to stories written with patriotism, sacrifice, and the nation's aspiration for independence and freedom.

The first stop was Phu Quoc Martyrs' Cemetery – the resting place of thousands of heroic martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland. Amidst the solemn rows of graves, there are still many unidentified graves and mass graves of martyrs. Although their names may be missing, their sacrifices will forever be remembered by the Fatherland and the People. In the tranquil atmosphere, the young people of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee respectfully offered incense before the spirits of the heroic martyrs.
Leaving the cemetery, the delegation visited the Phu Quoc Prison National Special Monument – once described as "hell on earth". In 2014, Phu Quoc Prison was classified as a National Special Monument by the Prime Minister, becoming a symbol of the indomitable spirit and unwavering will of the Vietnamese people.

The next stop is the Temple of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc in Ganh Dau – a memorial to the hero who has become an immortal symbol of the Vietnamese people's patriotism and will to resist foreign invaders. Nguyen Trung Truc's name is associated with the victory of burning the warship L'Espérance on the Vam Co Dong River and the battle to destroy the Rach Gia fort in 1868. The indomitable spirit of this son of Vietnam is encapsulated in his immortal words before his execution: "Only when the grass in Vietnam runs dry will there be no more Vietnamese people fighting the West." This is not just the spirit of a man, but has become a spiritual value preserved, continued, and passed down through generations of Vietnamese people.
Standing before the spirits of the heroic martyrs, each member of the Youth Union understands even more that history is not only found in books or historical sites, but is present in each person's responsibility to the Fatherland today. Patriotism in peacetime is no longer about taking up arms and going to war, but about being dedicated to work, constantly learning, innovating thinking, mastering science and technology, and embracing digital transformation; it is about having a pioneering spirit, daring to think, daring to act, and being ready to contribute for the benefit of the country and the people.

As the journey concludes, what remains deeply ingrained in each person is a sense of pride in the nation's historical heritage and gratitude towards the generations of ancestors who wrote glorious chapters of history with blood and courage.
Throughout thousands of years of nation-building and national defense, the historical flow of the Vietnamese people has never ceased. Each generation has its own mission. If the older generation made history through their fighting spirit and sacrifice, today's young generation has the responsibility to continue writing history with their intellect, courage, aspirations for innovation, and spirit of service to the Fatherland.
The journey back to our roots has come to an end, but the values nurtured throughout history will forever remain in the hearts of every youth union member. This will be the driving force for the youth of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to continue upholding revolutionary traditions, maintaining ideals, cultivating political acumen, improving professional skills, and contributing their intellect and youthful energy to the cause of building a more developed Nghe An province, joining the whole country in confidently moving into a new era of national development.
