Nghe An province to begin A2-level live-fire training in 2026.
On the morning of September 16th, the Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with the armed forces and local departments and agencies, held a ceremony to launch the A2 live-fire training exercise, in preparation for the Nghe An Provincial Defense Zone Exercise in 2026.
Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Nghe An Provincial Defense Zone Exercise - attended and delivered a directive speech.
Also attending were: Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thang - Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Military Region; Colonel Thai Doan Bang - Commander of the North Central Mobile Police Regiment; Colonel Nguyen Duy Thanh - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police; Colonel Pham Thanh Long - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Head of the A2 Field Training Subcommittee, along with representatives from the leadership of various departments, agencies, and 7 localities in the province.
In accordance with the Nghe An Provincial Police Department's plan for the 2026 provincial defense zone exercise, the A2 combat unit was assigned the task of organizing training and exercises on handling complex security and order situations, including: preventing and combating large gatherings causing security and order disturbances and riots; apprehending terrorists, rescuing hostages; and combating fires, explosions, and conducting search and rescue operations.
The training exercise mobilized a total of over 2,100 officers and soldiers, with core support from the Mobile Police Command, the Nghe An Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard, and officials and civil servants from various departments, agencies, and localities including Truong Vinh, Thanh Vinh, Vinh Hung, Vinh Phu, Vinh Loc, Cua Lo, and Nghi Xuan. The simulated field exercise was conducted in the area of the 72m road.
The A2 live-fire exercise plan was meticulously designed, closely reflecting modern combat realities, and divided into two main parts: Vehicle parade and technical demonstration; Live exercise involving handling three consecutive scenarios.
The training program lasts 47 days (from September 16 to October 30, 2026) and is divided into three phases: Basic and segmented training; Tactical joint training; Preliminary rehearsal and General rehearsal before the official exercise on October 30, 2026.
Speaking at the mobilization ceremony, Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province - emphasized: The 2026 provincial defense zone exercise in general and the A2 live-fire exercise in particular are especially important political tasks of the Party Committee, government, and armed forces of the province.
In the context of a security and order situation that still harbors many complex factors, organizing training exercises helps to enhance vigilance, command and control capabilities, and the ability to coordinate and cooperate in combat operations among forces.
To ensure the training session achieves the best results, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that participating forces uphold a high sense of responsibility, thoroughly understand their functions and duties, strictly adhere to training ground discipline and the orders of their commanders; the Provincial Police should continue to play a core role, closely coordinating with relevant departments and agencies to implement the scenario on schedule; and ensure absolute safety of personnel, weapons, and equipment, while minimizing the impact on the normal lives of the people in the area surrounding the training ground.
In addition, Comrade Phung Thanh Vinh requested that departments, agencies, and local governments create all favorable conditions in terms of time and work so that officials and civil servants can participate in the training fully and achieve the highest effectiveness.
On behalf of the training participants, Colonel Pham Thanh Long - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Head of the A2 Practical Training Subcommittee - seriously received the directives from the provincial leaders; at the same time, he requested all officers and soldiers to absolutely not be complacent, strictly adhere to training ground discipline, do a good job of protecting the secrecy of the exercise, and be determined to excellently complete the assigned tasks.
