Vietnamese athletes win 9 gold medals at the Asian Para Games.
With 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals, the Vietnamese sports delegation had its most successful Asian Para Games in history.
On the evening of October 24th, the 2014 Asian Para Games concluded in Incheon, South Korea. After a week of competition, the Vietnamese sports delegation achieved resounding success with 9 gold medals, ranking 10th overall. This is a record number of gold medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation at an Asian Para Games.

Of the 9 gold medals, athlete Vo Thanh Tung alone won 5 in the S5 disability category swimming events. Even more remarkably, Thanh Tung won gold medals in all the events he competed in, making him a strong contender for gold at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Brazil.
Besides Thanh Tung, other promising athletes who won gold medals for Vietnam at this year's Asian Para Games include: Le Van Cong (weightlifting, men's 49kg), Nguyen Binh Anh (weightlifting, men's 54kg), and Nguyen Thanh Trung (men's 100m breaststroke, men's 200m individual medley).

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the head of the Vietnamese Paralympic team, Mr. Vu The Phiệt, affirmed: “This is the best achievement of Vietnamese Paralympic sports in all the Games we have participated in to date. The number of medals has increased dramatically, especially the gold medals. In addition, the athletes have also set one world record and three Asian records. This shows that the skill level of Vietnamese disabled athletes is constantly improving, and the group of outstanding athletes has reached world-class standards.”
