On the evening of March 17, the General Department of Customs officially announced the dismantling of a flight attendant ring illegally transporting drugs from France to Vietnam, successfully arresting 4 subjects and seizing more than 11 kg of drugs.

The General Department of Customs said that, in the face of the complicated situation of buying, selling and transporting drugs by air and express delivery with many sophisticated methods and tricks, thoroughly implementing the direction of the General Director of the General Department of Customs, through the work of collecting and processing professional information as well as reviewing and identifying key points, on March 16, 2023 at the international arrival terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the Import Luggage Procedures Team (Tan Son Nhat International Airport Border Gate Customs Branch) carried out customs procedures for the crew members of flight number VN10 of Vietnam Airlines from France to Vietnam and discovered the luggage of 4 female flight attendants in the crew suspected of containing drugs.

Large amount of drugs hidden and disguised in toothpaste tubes discovered.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch presided over and coordinated with the Drug Control Team (Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department), the Southern Anti-Smuggling Drug Control Team (Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department), Department 7, Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04) and Drug Crime Investigation Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police to inspect the luggage of 4 flight attendants and discovered a large amount of drugs hidden and disguised in toothpaste tubes.

The luggage of 4 female flight attendants is suspected of containing drugs.

Specifically, through inspection, the authorities discovered that in addition to personal belongings, the VTQ flight attendant's luggage contained 45 boxes of toothpaste. The authorities discovered that 42 boxes of toothpaste contained many gray tablets weighing approximately 3,440 grams (gross weight); the remaining 3 boxes contained white powder weighing approximately 80 grams (gross weight).

The test sample tested positive for Methamphetamine and Ketamine.

Checking the luggage of flight attendant Tr.Th.Th.Ng, in addition to the suitcase of personal belongings, there was a black plastic suitcase containing 11 boxes of toothpaste. When checking, the authorities discovered that inside there were many gray tablets weighing about 780 grams (gross weight).

Checking the luggage of flight attendant D. Ph. V., in addition to personal belongings, the authorities discovered a black plastic suitcase containing 55 boxes of toothpaste. Inside 28 boxes, the authorities discovered many gray tablets weighing about 2,000 grams (gross weight), the remaining 27 boxes contained white powder weighing about 2,020 grams of white powder (gross weight).

Checking the luggage of flight attendant Ng. Th. Th., the authorities also discovered a black plastic suitcase containing 43 boxes of toothpaste. Of these, 31 boxes contained many gray tablets weighing about 2,180 grams (gross weight), the remaining 12 boxes contained white powder weighing about 940 grams (gross weight).

The Customs Department conducted a rapid test (using a suitcase of reagents), and the test results showed a positive reaction to Methamphetamine and Ketamine reagents.

Currently, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch is conducting an appraisal of the suspected drug evidence seized in the above case, and is continuing to coordinate with functional forces to continue investigating and handling the case.
