The average per capita income in Nghe An has reached over 4 million VND/month.
(Baonghean.vn) - The average monthly income per person in Nghe An, as of the end of 2023, increased by approximately 400,000 VND compared to 2022; ranking 35th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
The General Statistics Office has just released the 2023 Household Living Standards Survey. This is a sample survey under the National Statistical Survey Program, conducted to collect information as a basis for assessing living standards, evaluating poverty and wealth inequality, and monitoring and evaluating several national target programs.
The 2023 Household Living Standards Survey was conducted across all 63 provinces and centrally-administered cities, encompassing 46,995 households representing the entire country, urban and rural areas, and six geographical regions/provinces/centrally-administered cities.
Accordingly, the average monthly income per person in Nghe An in 2023 reached 4.0505 million VND, ranking 35th nationwide; an increase of approximately 400,000 VND compared to the average monthly income surveyed in 2022 (3.629 million VND).
Although the average monthly income per person in Nghe An has increased, it remains lower than the average for the North Central and Central Coastal regions (4.2638 million VND) and the national average of 4.96 million VND.
The highest average monthly income per person in our country is in Binh Duong, reaching nearly 8.3 million VND, while the lowest is in Dien Bien, at nearly 2.2 million VND.
In our country, the highest-income household group (comprising the top 20% of the population - group 5) has an average monthly income of 10.86 million VND per person, which is 7.5 times higher than the lowest-income household group (comprising the bottom 20% of the population - group 1), with an average monthly income of 1.45 million VND per person.
In Nghe An, the highest-income household group (comprising the wealthiest 20% of the population - group 5) has an average monthly income of over 8.8 million VND per person, an increase of more than 1 million VND compared to 2022, which is 7.6 times higher than the lowest-income household group (comprising the poorest 20% of the population - group 1), whose average monthly income per person is only 1.172 million VND.
On a general level, a survey by the General Statistics Office shows that in Vietnam, the average monthly income per person in urban areas in 2023 reached 6.26 million VND, nearly 1.5 times higher than in rural areas (4.17 million VND).
In 2023, the Southeast region had the highest average monthly income per person (6.52 million VND). The region with the lowest average monthly income per person was the Northern Midlands and Mountains (3.44 million VND). The North Central and Central Coastal regions ranked 4th out of 6 regions with an average monthly income of over 4.26 million VND.
According to the General Statistics Office, the income structure is shifting towards greater progress. Income from wages and salaries continues to hold a high proportion of people's income, increasing from 51.1% in 2018 and remaining above 55% in the years from 2020 to 2023. Conversely, the proportion of income from self-employment in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries tends to decrease, from 13.3% in 2018 to 10.2% in 2023.
In 2023, the average household size was 3.6 people, and the average number of people of working age per household was 2.1.
