Japanese Prime Minister: No delay in resolving peace treaty issue with Russia
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has promised to continue negotiations on a peace treaty with Russia.
"The problem that has remained unresolved for 70 years cannot be passed on to future generations. I am determined to end this problem together with President Vladimir Putin," said Mr. Abe.
In early January, Japan's prime minister said this year would be a "turning point" in the history of the territorial dispute between the two countries.
